        I still see in that list that three obviously northern states (Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin) prohibit studs.

        Still, that s definitely more liberal than I thought. The question is why more people don't take advantage of it.

          Because then you have to buy another set of tires & in some cases all 4,it can get expensive.There's no restrictions in my state but I wouldn't have them,some years I wouldn't need them.I use chains,they'll go on & off as needed.

                    Just now, ironically, saw the Pitt. clip on my local station, for at least the second time.

                    Funny thing is, it looks (to me anyway) as if it could be the same hill as from the November incident here in Seattle. Just a different cast of car actors.

                    Also, it seems there was at least one other incident, within the last few weeks from yet another City, that looked like it could have been the same hill.
