Re: Chromatix: well, in Finland you guys have infrastructure prepared for this type of shit. Typically, cities here don't overbuild, so in dry areas not prone to flooding, you get poor drainage. Like where I live.
    Re: Green Fairy: omg !
EDIT: I've had to dodge around puddles the size of semi-trucks (yes with trailer). I don't have rubber waders, and the water is in spots I know to be at least seven inches deep. Since they're all along the roads, I couldn't cross over unless I walked several blocks out of my way. Hrmph.
ANOTHER edit: Green Fairy Green Fairy Green Fairy you gotta take pictures with snow falling all around you two like a magical snow globe or something !! o___O

      I wish we'd get some snow,but since it's a La NiƱa year we won't get much,if any.
New Mexico, meet North Carolina. North Carolina, New Mexico. I'm sure you two will get along famously.

This is in contrast to last year when there was snow on the ground in some form somewhere around here from December straight through til March. I've never seen that happen. Until last year I'd also never seen the Swannanoa River frozen over, nor had I seen rafts of ice floating down the French Broad River.

this week has been better in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle area) *knock on every piece of wood close to me*

Last week SUCKED. down in the teens, snow, ice and a windstorm that knocked out power for most of the area. Lost ours Monday night didn't get it back until Wednesday afternoon.
Yup.....I didn't lose power though thank god. We didn't get a whole lot of ice either, mostly visible frost in spots. But now it's just kinda...warmish and cloudy. Not bad.

I'm in Finland; I'll call you all wusses. :P
Canada, Above the 49th Parallel, and affected by both the Hudson's Bay and Great Lakes for snow. A 'light dusting' can be up to 6 inches overnight, and the 10-year record is currently 14.6 feet. Wanna visit?

As a Canadian now living in the deep south, I must say I love the more moderate weather, but I sure do miss getting snow days from work and school. Those were some of the most awesome days ever.

I always loved when there was a big snowfall and I didn't have to go anywhere that day. Of course I usually wound up shoveling it later...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind snow/ice if we got snow days. Or if the city/university would actually plow and salt the roads and shovel and salt the sidewalks. Oh, and the parking lots. The university won't plow the parking lots - at. all.
