I've always been a bibliophile. Give me a new and interesting book, and I'd be delighted and give you a happy "Thank you!" In fact, I received a new and interesting book today, and was practically cheering when I got it!

Not to mention, if I reacted that way to any gift I received, I'd get a swift dressing-down from my parents, not giggles and being filmed.

If it were my kid I would have taken ALL of the "toys" back. You don't show disrespect like that.

I got 2 books for Christmas. Granted, I bought them myself and gave them to my mom to wrap. She paid me back.

That kid is being an ungrateful, rotten brat and his parents just sit there and giggle about it. My parents would have tanned my hide if I had acted like that.

Considering how little I had growing up, getting anything for Christmas was better than nothing. I wonder how he'd feel if he got nothing. There were quite a few years that books were what I got, and I know I read them like they were the most precious thing on the planet.

            DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

Wow, he was quite angry too. I would have been thrilled to get books, just imagine if he got what I got from a aunt every year, a toothbrush and socks.
I grew up learning, It doesn't matter what you get, you thank the person and appreciate that they thought of you. Even if you hate it.

I remember when on of my friend's niece turned 2 - she got a couple of books (and her birthday is in DEC - so being told she had to wait was probably pretty common) but she still had a few presents to unwrap, so her mom tried to take the books and set them aside so she could finish - and she lets out this "MINE MINE MINE!" that was best translated to "I'm trying to read, leave me alone!" we still giggle, and that was 6? 8? yrs ago... (something like that)

you just have to find ones that they like.

I will never forget the Christmas that I got my first two Garfield books (#10 and 19, I believe). If I had acted like that, I wouldn't have gotten any more presents that Christmas.

Most Christmases since I learned to read, most of my presents have been books (most of my "wish list" was books, too). Almost all of the gifts I got from hubby this year were books. It was a great Christmas!

One of my nephews takes after me and loves to read. I got him 5 books for Christmas, which he was very excited about and "Santa" got him a Kindle, which he thought was the most awesome gift he ever got. He was more excited about that than any video game system he's ever gotten. He's 11. Love that kid!

Kid in the video is a brat. I can't believe tha parents thought that behavior was funny. He should have had all of his presents taken away until he learned to be grateful.
