  • The Dark Knight Rises Villains revealed...

As your residental Batman super nerd (and self proclaimed Expert...) I felt it was my duty to show this link.

    http://blog.movies.yahoo.com/blog/43...ew-selina-kyle

Seems all my searching show it is true.

Anne Hathaway will be Selina Kyle. (Seems the big guys don't want to mention Catwoman, but any idiot with an inking of Batman knowledge knows that that's Catwoman!)

    Tom Hardy will play Bane.

I liked Bane myself.... and it's a perfect match really for Batman. He's just as smart and if not stronger person then Batman. Though I don't know how'll they play him off.

Bane started off in the shadows, releasing all the villains into the city for Batman to fight off for days, until he was at his weakest... before appearing in his home to fight him. (And having one of the most memorial scenes in any comic, BREAKING Batman's back and throwing him into the streets of Gotham). While Batman was healing, Bane OWNED Gotham.

Batman had to have a replacement, a ex villain who turned good. But the mantle of the bat was too much for him, and he started to get way to violent. Thus the Battle of the Cowl (First one anyway) appeared.

Bane is a bit more obscure, but he does appear in the comics sometimes. Despite how hard it was the first time they fought, (Though to be fair, Batman has gone days without sleep, was exhausted to the point that CAVILAR was giving him a challenge...), Bane still nearly killed him. Though everytime they fight now, seems Batman beats him in seconds...

So, while I knew Heath Ledger would OWN the role of Joker despite all my friends claiming it'll suck, as of now? I don't know. I don't know if A: Tom can do the role of the hulking brute, B: If Bane could be play off. Without too much knowledge of rhe fans.....

Then again, Ra's was great villain in the first one. So it can be done.

So, this Catwoman is a villan, not a good girl like the one Halle Berry played?

More likely the traditional Catwoman. A thief with an obsession of feline related items. Part of Batman's rogues gallery, but only barely.

I don't know that much about Batman, honestly. I did hear from a coworker that Catwoman was originally a villian and not the good girl Halle Berry played, which that movie probably had nothing to do with anything at all, it was just horrible, except Halle looked great in that costume.

Anne Hathaway is very gorgeous and I'm sure she can pull off the costume, but damn, it's hard to out-do Halle Berry in a tight leather outfit.

If Natalie Portman were taller, I would have picked her for Catwoman. She seems more feline.

I like Michelle Pfeifer as Catwoman but now she's just a couger.

Halle Berry's Catwoman was not related to the Batman saga at all. I think they basically borrowed the name in order to make people think it was a Batman movie. Her alter ego wasn't even Selina Kyle.

Indeed. The Catwoman movie with Halle Berry... had nothing to do with the Batman movies.

              *cough* justlikeBatmanandRobin *cough*.

Catwoman is more a... antihero I guess.

She's a love intrest for Batman. Selina Kyle was a love intrest for Bruce Wayne. Batman knew that Selina was Catwoman, but Selina didn't know Batman was Bruce until the Hush saga. (Which is relativly recent).

Catwoman is still a thief however, and thus a criminal in Batman's eyes. No different from a murderer. He tries to get her to go good, and she even did for a bit. Even gaining his trust for a small area of Gotham to be under her protection, which is like leaving a big fat can of tuna in front of your cat and trusting it not to eat it. That's how big a trust he had for her.

Then she got nearly beaten to death by Lady Shiva, and Batman went all super paranoia untrusting anyone deal again and kicked her out. So she went back to stealing, and now they're playing cats and mouse again.

Because as she said "Bats are nothing more then mice with wings..."

You know when I first read this I thought we would see the " 2 villains per movie" format again, which I'm not a huge fan off.

But after thinking about it, I've come up with an interesting theory: Ann Hathaway is going to play Selina Kyle and not Catwoman ( to my knowledge Catwoman was never officially announced) What if Bane is the principal ( and only) villain in the film?

Selina Kyle might just be the love interest for Bruce Wayne for the most part, but along the way, the seeds are planted for the future appearance of Catwoman later in the series.

That would be some damn fine story telling.

It would if they were making more.

They've comfirmed multiple times that this is the last one they're making.
However what do you mean 2 villains per movie format again? It's always been like that.

Batman Begins: Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul.
Dark Knight: The Joker of course, but to a lesser extent The last rements of the Mob, Two-Face, Scarecrow and even Reese could be considered a very minor villain, at least by threatening to expose him as the Batman. (Though that did give us one of the greatest lines ever by Morgan Freeman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqZRq...eature=related

Doing multiple villains, and doing them WELL is what Nolan can do.

Even in the previous movies, the only one with a single villain was Batman, with Jack Nicholson's Joker. I greatly prefer his Joker, tbh. It may not be as accurate to the comics, but Nicholson was playfully insane. Besides, Ledger handed that movie over to Eckhart as soon as Dent became Two-Face. (Yes, go ahead, blast me.)

Man I was hoping for the Riddler. I'm just not sure Bane and Catwoman/Selina Kyle are strong enough to carry a Batman movie, even if Nolan is in the directors chair.

I just can't quite see Hathaway as a villain. She's done so many family films over the years, I just can't buy her as even being able to say mean things to people.
Something kind of sad about the way that things have come to be.

Which she often never really did say anything mean.
Catwoman isn't a killer. I think she maybe killed two people, if that, and it was through accidental more then premedited. Does she hurt people? Maybe in her dominatrix days, but even then, it wasn't against people that didn't deserve it.

Catwoman is a theft formost. A cat burgler. She takes stuff and escapes. She tries her best NOT to get into fights. Not that she doesn't know how too.

I think people are thinking Villain = Killer, when a villain is oftne just a challenge to the good guy. She likely just be a major thief of Wayne Enterprises. May even steal much of tech knowledge, and maybe even learning who Batman is that way like Reese did. Sells that knowledge to Bane which is how he learns it. (Just guessing mind you. In the Comics Bane learned his identy by sheer detective work. In prison. Without ever setting foot in Gotham or dealing with Batman. That's how smart he is).

Or she may be just constatly getting in his way by taking stuff and causing Batman to loose focus and to chase her, much like they do in the comics.

Being a Batman villain doesn't mean heartless killer that does nothing but hurt people. Even Poison Ivy started a child orphanage and took care of them during the days of No Man's land.

Besides. Anne does play a perfect bitch. Did you see her in Brokeback Mountain? Totally didn't give one shit when her husband was killed.

Bane does have an interesting background which can provide with some good story. We'll see but the past two movies have been absolutely amazing. Ledger made a masterpiece of the Joker and that'll be tough to follow up.

I'm curious as to how big a roll Catwoman really will have. I don't think a large role would really support the hardness of the film that this series deserves.
