4.2? Enough to rattle nerves (yes, pun intended), minor damage, even in areas like MO that aren't prepared for it.
Hopefully it keeps New Madrid in check.

I'm not even sure it would be a pun. A 4.2 right under you would literally rattle the nerves.Quoth draggar View Post4.2? Enough to rattle nerves (yes, pun intended), minor damage, even in areas like MO that aren't prepared for it.

It could be. Especially considering that a nearby levee was deliberately exploded right over the fault. Explosives + extreme flooding + fault line = bad The New Madrid is long overdue for a severe quake.Quoth lordlundar View PostI'd put money the former is a cause for the latter."Even arms dealers need groceries." ~ Ziva David, NCIS

I was reading a study a few months ago in my college science class that there's new evidence that earthquakes have up and down swings where they build up and then down from a major earthquake. They said it's highly possible that the earthquakes we're having now at the New Madrid Fault line are actually the down swing after shocks of the big quake that made the Mississippi run backwards. At least I'm hoping it is...
