I love listening to coyotes howl. One time we were at my grandparents' cabin on an island in a reservoir. There wasn't enough room in the house so several of us put up tents in the yard. During the night we heard a coyote pack in the middle of a hunt, howling and yipping and barking. We even heard the animal they took down
--probably a cow. Hearing them just howling back and forth to communicate is one thing; hearing them in full-hunt mode was quite something.
