  • Amusing grocery store training video from the 80's

I found this pretty entertaining, maybe I'm odd, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdlep4HpEfg

Yeah I thought it was pretty amusing. I only saw the first part, but it was just so cheesy, like a typical late 80s, early 90s video. Gotta love that power techno beat that plays during the first 5 minutes.

Are any of the stores mentioned still in business? I noticed Kohls, which went out of business maybe 10 years ago.

I found this Wendys video linked along the side. There must've been something freaky in Dave Thomas's pipe when he approved that one.

Kohl's, as in Kohl's Department Store? They're still around and doing well as far as I know. I love shopping at the one here.

Yeah we have Kohl's out here in OK. In fact I seem to recall being forced into shopping with my mom once. I never want to be in that store for 6 hours again.

Must've been smoking that same stuff with this video

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

I cannot believe I watched those Wendy's videos. Then again, they were probably trying to make them more interesting to the teenagers who worked there.

No. There also used to be a grocery store chain called Kohls in Cheeselandialand. They had some fairly funky-looking buildings.

I used to have a Kohl's by my area.....until I moved. I love me some Kohl's! The Wendy's Burger Rap was cheesy but fun to watch! As for the grocery store training video...I couldn't help but think that the gray stripe on the guy's head looked so fake and the acting (as usual with most training videos) was crap and fun to mock.

A&P is basically only in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York now, and they declared bankruptcy last year. They only operate A&P, Waldbaums, Superfresh, Food Emporium and Pathmark now.

I used to think A & P was some term for a grocery store I didn't know. I just found out recently--from a coworker, I think--that it's actually the name of the store. And my company has those videos, too. Even our HR lady derides them. But she has to make new hires watch them.

That would be The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company.

Check out Groceteria for more information on A&P and other national and regional chains. Fascinating site IMO.
