  • How to make a lightbulb *really* last

    Never turn it off

Back in june the worlds oldest *running* lightbulb just turned 110 ... yep. Aside from a few power outages in its youth, this light bulb's been working for over a century.

It started as a 60 watt bulb in the Livermore, CA fire department house. It now burns at 4 watts and back in the mid 70s it was relocated to the new fire department building. And was given its own power source and backup generator. mainly because when you first turn a bulb on it's that initial current spike that kills it. So... they're determined to never let that bulb turn off again

It's even been featured on Myth busters and fox news and snopes.

I forgot which link on the page has the quote but... pretty much the lightbulb is their good-luck mascot.

Also, use copper instead of tungsten for the incandescent metal, that helps a lot too
If you wish to find meaning, listen to the music not the song
