Yes, SC was a bitch. I'm sure she's been greeted before while on the phone and ignored it, or got upset. So the cashier had a point. That poor cashier just sounds so tired and defeated. I wish there was some way to get a hold of her to make her feel better. Figures that SC won't enable comments; knows in her heart she's wrong!

I haven't watched it, but it sounds like (and correct me if I'm wrong) customer entered the store but was busy talking/texting, so the cashier, being polite, did not greet her, tyring to be polite and not interrup?

I admit I will not greet customers who come in yapping away on their phone. First of all, I think its rude they do that, but that's just me, but that aside, I also think its rude of me to interrup them while on the phone, so I'l lwait until they get off. Usually they're yapping away, and wandering around, just browsing. When/if they get off, I then greet them adn ask fi they need any help.

What ever happned to the days before there were such things as door greeters & NOBODY gave a shit if the cashier said so much as "boo" to you? When you just went into a store, bought your shit & got the fuck out? No fuss, no bother & no pansy ass mother fucker getting all bent out of shape cause some poor retail worker didn't stop WORKING just to say "hello".
Nowadays if you even look at some idiot customer sideways then they go crying to a manager INSISTING on getting compensation for their "misery! Meanwhile, the poor retail worker gets written up or worse for not providing "good customer service". It's bullshit!

The SC was being a bitch. There's a good handful of establishments where customers on their phones won't be served or greeted until they got off the phone. Aside from that, recording somebody without consent (depending on the state) is illegal.

As a rule, it is legal. Wal-Mart may have rules against it, in which case this SC would have issues as she is violating policy.

If you have a reasonable expectation of privacy (at least here in the US), and somebody video/audio records you, that person could have a problem. If you're in public, or visible from a public space, you can be legally recorded from someone else either on their own private property or in public space. For instance, you're on the road in front of their house, you can be recorded either from their yard or the road.

I'm sorry, but this is one misconception that needs to go away. In both the US and the UK (from all the reading I've done), if there is no expectation of privacy, you can be recorded. If you're violating the rules of the property owner, you can be ejected. But the recording itself is legal.
