Isn't he inconveniencing himself with this "protest" a lot more than the power company?

It would be terribly funny if he accidentally sent the power company a rare coin worth a few thousand...

...and they sent him a thank you note for it.

    "Dear Sir,

We wish to acknolwege receiving payment in full for your March statement. It happened to contain a rare cent worth $5000. Of course, our charter does not allow us to keep extra funds, so we donated all the proceeds to a children's charity.

The orphans thank you from the bottom of their hearts."

The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

They never really seem to think about that. I worked a summer in a car dealership once and some jerk was unhappy and decided to get back at us by paying several hundred dollars in ones.

So the cashier (who everyone was afraid of, BTW) calmly got herself a cuppa joe and then sat down and very leisurely counted it out.

Took a while. And she wouldn't give him his car till she was done. She never even had a single hair ruffled. I don't think her blood pressure went up one point. I guess, why should it? She's getting paid the same. And it was a slow day.

That dude sat in that hot, boring showroom all freaking morning.

The best part of it? Ameren doesn't have to accept it, since he's using minor coinage. To have them legally required to accept it, he would have to use dimes or higher-value coins.

Imagine if they refused, and he tried to return the coins to the bank. I hope they have one of those automated counting machines.
I've been here for two years, work harder than most others, and I'm getting paid $1.80 an hour
less than the 17 year old slacker you hired two months ago. Maybe that's why I'm not chipper at work.

the way the article words things he apparently hasn't done it yet, so chances are the company will catch wind and be more than ready to do whatever they feel would be best whether it be to refuse payment, or rent a change counter.

What the hell is he doing to rack up an electric bill over $500?! Growing pot?

Tell me, how is he inconveinencing the power company. They are getting there money, but he is spending $50.00 extra just to send it. I understand being upset about the higher electric bill, but it seems that he is just inconveinencing himself more than anything.

If he REALLY wanted to annoy the power company, he should send them 500 cheques for $1 each. Its costs companies money to process cheques, so a huge pile of cheques is actually much more of an inconvenience than a sack of pennies. In fact, even better and more inconvenient, would be a pile of cheques for random amounts, that added up to $500 in total.
