  • Pet store owner refuses to sell puppies/kittens in the lead up to Christmas

Mostly because of the tendency to impulse buy.

Instead, she's referring those who genuinely want a pet to rescue shelters.

    I love this person.

when we were considering a dog, my BF wanted to wait until after Christmas - to avoid the puppy/dog christmas gift issues.

so we started officially looking right at the end of the year and went home with our doggy a few days after the new year.

which reminds me... the shelter we got her from also pushes people away too. but for slightly different reasons. They sometimes do adoption events alongside Animal Control. Since the shelter is no-kill and AC is not, I've seen them encourage potential customers to check out the other dogs first.

To me that's a sign that they truly care about dogs. They'd rather lose out on a potential customer / adoption fee... for the sake of seeing a dog saved from being put down by the dog pound.

Stella was a Christmas gift for me, but we went a few days after Christmas to the local shelter.
