  • Guess what the most popular instrument among primary/elementary children is now?

    Is it the recorder? Nope.
    The flute? Nope.
    The drums? Well maybe.

    It's the ukulele.

Better than whistles or kazoos I suppose! And recorders... Oh how I hate recorders.

I learnt the ukulele in grade school as well. I wish my kids did instead of the recorder.

They're fun to play. But being the oldest child, I had to listen to the stupid instrument for every single one of my little siblings. And any neighbor kids who were learning to play... I think "The Great Recorder Parade" as I called it, ruined any remaining tolerance I had for the thing. Basically every kid who was learning to play the recorder on the nearby streets, got into a group and paraded through the cul-de-sacs with their recorders. Yeah.... There was no escaping that racket, seeing how all of the kids were on different levels of skill.
