Read the top of the page. Someone clearly has had enough of dealing with stupid customers.

. One of my suppliers takes great delight in ringing and saying 'Hello, I'm a Telemarketer'. Noooo Greg, this isn't funny....

Admittedly I can see where a couple of the customers are coming from, some small businesses do provide the option of pickup from their location, which saves on postage (you need to be living in my state though). assuming that all businesses will do it however is just plain fucking stupid.

Damn, I've never been so tempted to write an email asking if I can pick up the soap.

Oh, I imagined a lady cursing up a storm! I never even thought of picking up an order until I saw it given as an option on the site of one of my suppliers.

Quite a few of the small businesses I browse through have it as an option. You can either pay for postage (usually a few $) or you can pick it up (for free).
I'm going to try it later on in the year when I'm stocking up on art supplies (some of the Steiner art supplies are very durable)

ETA: Steiner is not a brand of art supplies btw but without plugging too much, if you want super-durable (albeit expensive) pencils, I suggest checking out the Lyra and Stockmar brands. They also do crayons, paint and sketchbooks.

                    Great, kudos to the guy!

As I have always said, I would back my employees in being firm with sucky entitlement whore customers. I really hate it when articles and programs tell people to be sucky customers.

There was an article the other week in your average "real stories" mag which did mention a few tricks that businesses use and how to do certain things. I was a bit mixed on it actually....some of the things were things like creative displays and whatnot (which you can check if you know what you're doing), while some of the others involved what would be constituted as shoddy business tactics (i.e. price hiking for non-locals). They did throw in the "if you call and threaten to cancel unless they drop your price" line but that was it.
