For those of you not familiar with Spider Robinson's Callahan series, Ralph Von Wau Wau is a German Sheppard.
One day at The Place, Jake is tending bar, and the phone rings. Before he can pick it up, Ralph Von Wau Wau says "Those are ze Cheerful Charlies". Sure enough, the Cheerful Charlies are the ones who phoned. Later, the phone rings again, and Ralph says "Zat is Noah Gonzales". True enough, Noah is on the other end. Still later, the phone rings a third time, and Ralph says "Zat is Doc Webster". Again, he's right. Jake asks him how he knows who's on the other end. Ralph points to his tags and says "I haff collar I.D.".

Note: Both items listed here are legitimate menu items (one of them may have been a "limited time only" item). "Clucking Bell" refers to a KFC and Taco Bell outlet under one roof.

You've probably heard about lycanthropes (were-creatures), but recently some non-traditional varieties have been discovered:
The Appalachian (or Hillbilly) werewolf is a person who turns into a vicious beast when exposed to moonshine.
Another variety changes to animal form when exposed to soap and water. Until more details are known, parazoologists are calling this one a "wash and were".
