Seraph, I've been at my current job for over six years. I'm their rum guy, I've been here longer than all but one bartender and three staff total, I'm well known to the owner in a good way, I do tons of extra projects fir them that they love the results of...and I'm still paranoid enough that whenever a manager says they need to talk to me, my reflex response is to ask, "Am I in trouble?"

So, uh, is a growing terror that something may happen before the 60 days are up a standard thing for having a fulltime job? Because darn, I'm just jumping at every shadow, lol.
What you are feeling is normal. Right now things seem to good to be true, and you're waiting for the bubble to burst. It's part of the normal excitement of the job. Just remember to breathe and remember you have to come down from the mountain. You're just riding a high right now.

        You'll be fine

Wow. Damn. And yeah Sapphire's right, on a high right now. Shock, on a positive level, right?

                ...turning into the worst prank.

.....they didn't make payroll, for my first pay period. They say its a one time thing, and that they'll get it straightened out asap....I'm praying, and praying, things will turn around.

The first paycheck almost always has some kinks in it. I wouldn't count this as a prank yet.

                    Let me clarify.

Nobody at the company got paid last pay period. They did not make payroll. This is...really, not good.

I appreciate it. I'm just kind of borderline huddling in a corner out of sheer "wtf am I going to do"-ness.

There is a long list of reasons why it is better to work for a small, personal company versus a large, heartless, monolithic corporation. Guaranteed payroll is not on that list.

Fingers are crossed that it is truly a one time mistake.

What the holy fuck? How long have they been around? Any indication that this is a recurring problem? Possibly a payroll glitch? (They happen. I know; I've caused a couple.) What kind of explanations/excuses are they making?
