I don't know how many of you have been watching MCJ, but I have been, and I am impressed. To be fair, I expected to be impressed, but I am even more impressed than I expected to be.

First of all, these kids can flat out cook. I like to think I can cook, but I will say right now that every single kid on this show can out cook me without a problem. I am blown away by what these kids are doing, both technically and creatively. And sure, the judges are soft pedaling a bit on the judging, since these are kids, but overall I think they've been fair and accurate with both their praise and their criticism.

Now, as for the judges, it's actually a nice change of pace to see these guys having fun and being a bit goofy. And, dare I say it, even nice. When the contestants struggle, rather than hammering them, the judges have been there to support them, teach them, and provide constructive critiques.

Personally, I love this show, and especially love seeing some of these kids saying the exact same things their adult counterparts say in similar shows. My personal favorite is Sarah, who I find to be a miniature ninja in her skill, fearlessness, and sneaky viciousness. I think she's adorable, and in some ways, she reminds me of my favorite niece, Dragon. (Don't tell Dragon.)

They probably conceived this as a "cute" show, and it is, but far more than any other kids cooking show I've seen lately (like Chopped or the Rachael vs. Guy kid cookoff), there is some serious skill going on. These kids are cute, but they are culinary badasses.

So, I know I can't be the only one watching MCJ. Who else is watching? And what do you think of it?

alexander should probaboly gone home last night, and Kaylee should probably have stayed. Alexander is probably a better cook overall, but his cake was a disaster.

and i KNOW FMA_Fanatic wants a ringtone of Sarah screaming "WHIP IT LIKE A MAN!!"
Lister: This is Crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
Cat: You're right. We're Nuts! This is an insane conversation....
Lister: She'll never leave Fred and we know it.

The only thing funnier than Sarah screaming that was Dara's reaction to it. "We saw a side of Sarah we haven't seen before." Gee, ya think? I'm telling you, that little one is a ninja.

I have only seen a part of one show. That was when Sarah dropped the Beef Wellington.
I laughed so hard at the tasting.

That line of hers to Joe was utterly classic, and something I, and presumably many other viewers, have yelled in our heads at people on reality shows for years when they say and do stupid shit.

I only saw a few minutes of one episode (not into cooking shows); as far as I could tell, they were testing the kids' skills in making what appeared to whipped cream...by turning the bowls upside down over the judges' heads. Only one judge remained clean (until right at the end when the winning kid put the bowl down on his head). I thought it was great that they're having fun with it.

Just saw the latest episode. Poor Sofia, she nearly fell apart during the cake challenge. Kinda bummed that she went home.

I've only seen a few episodes of the original Master Chef. So it's different to see Ramsay being nice. As for the other two I never heard of them until this show.

Check out the British shows that he is on. He's a whole lot tamer then he is on Hell's Kitchen which honestly...his persona on Hell's Kitchen makes him look like a kitten on MC.

There is one where a lady was trying to slap him and he just kept deflecting it with almost a bored look on his face.

I LOVE MasterChef Junior! It's a shame I can't watch the most recent episodes 'cause this computer is an old wreck, but I've enjoyed the first two episodes it let me watch. I agree about Sarah being a firecracker, though, she really is the real deal when it comes to cooking.

And I agree with Aethian: he really just wants to help, and while he may yell from time to time in the show, it's a lot more tamed down than what 'Murica is used to, which is probably why they make him such a cranky pants in Hell's Kitchen.
My only regret is that I don't have a better word for "F@#k You".

Close. I want it for my message notification. Now if only I could find a sound clip of it...
                    Random conversation:
Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
                    DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

This is not a sound clip, but it is an article about it, with some sage advice for those who might make MJC into a drinking game, and an imbedded video clip, with sound, of the scene in question, for those who have not seen it:

Wow, this sounds like a good show to watch from the clip I saw. I'll have to check it out on Hulu.

I love it. It's FUN! Which is why I love cooking, even with my domineering older sister. Because it's FUN!

Anything involving Ramsay and kids will result in him being calm and collected throughout. In Hell's Kitchen, I remember one episode where the kids were all wanting to get stuff signed. One boy asked "Are you the best cook in the world?" Ramsay: "yes."

We did 2 seasons of Masterchef Junior down here in Aussieland. The kids had a ball with it and even during filming, the judges described it as being a totally different atmosphere.

I meant Hell's Kitchen Sorry! Master Chef was stuck in my head.

So far every time I've see them bake a treat, my mouth just waters. Though the beef wellington looked sooooo good.
