After someone I know tried this, I decided to give it a go. Made a curry with halloumi cheese as the main protein source.
I'd tried the other and it was good - I thought it was a vegetarian meat alternative to start with. I managed to replicate that texture, a bit like meat without the gristle. Fried some onions and cashews to start, added a (store bought) sauce, and made it warm for a bit. Added diced halloumi and made it warm for a bit. Presto!
Now I need to work on making a decent home-made curry sauce to impress ... myself, you know? Anyone got suggestions for this that don't involve google?
