I have an inexplicable crush on Brad Dourif and have had it since I saw The Two Towers, where he played Grima Wormtongue.

Just saw a recent picture of Jon Bon Jovi. I believe I need a towel now to clean up the drool. At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

Another somewhat obscure crush, as in I often have to explain who the hell she is to people who didn't watch the show that made her (somewhat) famous: Rene O'Connor. Droolicious! (Of course, if I were to describe my typical "type," and you were familiar with ROC, this would make perfect sense, as she fits right into it.)

Nope. Blonde.Quoth mathnerd View PostI have no idea who she is, but I'm guessing a red head.

Jester, you were talking about the lady that played Gabrielle on Xena, right? If not, you and mathnerd can just ignore me. lol
For me, a couple of weird crushes are as follows:
Jean Grey-as-Phoenix. When she's just regular Jean Grey she's all right, but when she's Regular/Dark/White-Phoenix-of-the-Crown Phoenix then hot damn! I have no idea why, but as soon as Jean and the Phoenix join I'm in love. And it only applies to her. Other Phoenix hosts don't do a thing for me.
Captain America. Especially the movie version played by Chris Evans. Thanks to the Captain America movie and the Avengers movie, I now have a crush on Evans as well. The comic book version can get me pretty hot and bothered too though.
Black Jack from the manga of the same name.
Bruce Campbell. Originally because of his role as Autolycus on Hercules and Xena, but still continuing because he is just that awesome.
Why yes, I am a geek. Why do you ask?
my favourite author is neil gaiman. - me
it is? I don't like potatoes much. - the chatbot I was talking to

Two off the top of my head.
We'll start by cranking up the Wayback Machine. In the late 1970s, the improbable crush I had was for actress Jan Smithers, best known as 'Bailey' on the old TV sitcom WKRP IN CINCINNATI. Smart, cute, generous, and a self-described 'lost cause lady'. I'd have done anything to actually meet her.
Years later, being a fan of cartoons, I was deeply into the Disney show GARGOYLES, and was absolutely in love with the voice of Detective Elisa Maza. Yes, her VOICE. The character was drawn attractively, yes, but it wasn't until MUCH later that I discovered the uncanny resemblance between the character and the actress who supplied her voice, Salli Richardson.
NOT so uncanny, as it later turned out. The animators at Disney actually modeled the character's appearance and ethnic background on the actress herself. Fast forward a few MORE years, and imagine my surprise when Salli Richardson turned up on TV again in the series EUREKA, as Allison Blake. That woman actually gets more attractive as she ages.
It also turned out there was a connection between the two: actor James Brolin. Brolin and Jan Smithers were married for a while, and of course, he played Allison's husband Nathan Stark in Eureka.
Okay, I've fan-geeked enough now. Stop looking at me like that.Last edited by ADeMartino; 12-24-2013, 03:13 AM.

Well darn it! Now I'm gonna have to go google her.Quoth Miss Maple Leaf View PostNope. Blonde.

ETA: Googling completed. We're both right. Looks like she's a natural blonde, but in many pictures, there's a redish tint to her hair. Not sure if she's got strawberry highlights of if she's dyed it at some point.Last edited by mathnerd; 12-24-2013, 03:26 AM.At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. Characters from movies and shows (most of my crushes are normal-ish):
Gibbs (NCIS). I don't like men typically, esp older ones. But his personality.
Frank N Furter (Rocky Horror Picture Show). He has such a way with people.
Selene (Underworld series)- One word, leather. I would also let her suck my blood any day.
Leeloo (Fifth Element)- Milla Jovovich is typically hot anyways.

Strawberry blonde, actually. And yes. Gabrielle herself. Which is usually how I have to explain it to people. Though every now and then, I'll just say Rene O'Connor, and someone will actually know who the hell I'm talking about. Which is both cool and disturbing at the same time.Quoth Miss Maple Leaf View PostNope. Blonde.

I can't comment on the actress herself, but I too had a crush on Bailey. Everyone else was always on about Loni Anderson, but I thought Bailey was just the bomb. Of course, I was right around the age of puberty, but still, it kinda says something that even then I wasn't going for whatever everyone else was going for.Quoth ADeMartino View PostIn the late 1970s, the improbable crush I had was for actress Jan Smithers, best known as 'Bailey' on the old TV sitcom WKRP IN CINCINNATI.

I'm not sure that having a crush on any character portrayed by the smoking hot Milla Jovovich could ever be construed as odd.Quoth cashierbex View PostLeeloo (Fifth Element)- Milla Jovovich is typically hot anyways.

Agreed. I'll admit, I had a poster of Loni in a bikini when I was a teen, but I'll tell you this: A poster of Jan in plain, ordinary clothes would have trumped Loni in a heartbeat.Quoth Jester View PostI can't comment on the actress herself, but I too had a crush on Bailey. I had a thing for Mark Hamill instead of Harrison Ford(like the rest of the girls) back when Return of the Jedi came out.At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

The bikini poster was a classic. I didn't have it, but my friend's older brother did, and I was quite jealous.Quoth ADeMartino View PostAgreed. But Bailey seemed more real, more attainable, and this was in no way a knock on her. But then, I've always been more attracted to the cute girls next door than the glamourous super babes.
Give me Anna Paquin over Angelina Jolie any day!
Whereas most guys wanted to be a Jedi. Me, I wanted to be Han Solo, if for no other reason than he was more of a smartass, far less of a whiner, and the low slung blaster was just so BADASS! And the Millennium Falcon.....HELLO?Quoth mathnerd View PostI had a thing for Mark Hamill instead of Harrison Ford(like the rest of the girls) back when Return of the Jedi came out.

Yeah, but I go for the skinny ones. Always have. Though you have a valid point about the Millennium Falcon.Quoth Jester View PostWhereas most guys wanted to be a Jedi. Han was hardly fat.
Also, compare companions. Solo traveled with a freakin' Wookiee. R2D2 was cool as hell, but C3PO was whiny as hell, and always requiring rescue. Advantage: Han.
And who got the girl in the end? The smuggler. The outlaw. The bad boy.
