  • The timing is never good

Here it is, a brand new year. We should be thinking about the future, cheer and good fortune. Instead, I bring sad news.

My Mom passed away this morning.

I knew this was coming. Her dementia took a major turn for the worse last January. We were forced to put her in a nursing home. Her condition slowly deteriorating.

I am going to try and not look at this as a sad thing or an ill omen for the year. It is a good thing. She has been released and is in a better place.

I already has two things happen today that made me smile. Then I came here and I found Teysa's post. It made me laugh.

Life is too short. Hug someone and tell them you love them. Bring a smile to someone's face and share the laughter.

So post a laugh and send thoughts and prayers of happiness to my Dad and my siblings.

Yes, 2014 will be a year of laughter.

I'm so sorry for your loss, csquared. I know you said that you knew it was coming, but we never think it's going to be 'today', do we?

Sending big hugs to you and all your family.

Very sorry to hear that. As you said, she's no longer hurting, but it takes a while to get used to the loss of your mom.
When you start at zero, everything's progress.

Very sorry, csquared. I know your pain, and your decision to choose joy. My mother passed in November and I made the same choice.

Much joy and laughter to you, and many good memories. Oh, and (((((((hugs))))).
