  • Vacation anyone?

Where would you go if someone gave you $5000 to take your family on a 2 week vacation?

Me: I have no idea, that is why I want to know where everyone else would go...

someplace warmer than here. it doesn't have to be exotic or even 'tourist-y.' but i'd still rather use the money to dig out of this increasingly-deep hole i've fallen into.

I'd go in the fall, take the train across the country, go on a horseback riding mountain tour for a week, then a couple days in Vancouver being pampered and checking out some shows/museums/less taxing things that mountain riding, then take the train back.

My family is 2 people, I think we could swing that for $5000

England to see, history, pubs and soccer stadiums!
Coffee should be strong, black and chewy! It should strip paint and frighten small children.

Disneyworld. Playing with airfare, hotels, and packages I can get a trip for us 6 to just above 4000.

Right now, somewhere warm. Hawaii, Aruba.... doesn't matter.

Iceland is next on our international travel list, but with a kid and all we'd probably be better off driving West (we're in the US) and going to Yellowstone.

Well I think I would try to do Disneyworld in Florida but then again with 5k, It would be nice to plan a few trips. Like Wisconsin Dells, Grand Canyon, San Diego Zoo and the Chicago Museums like Natural history, Science and Industry and the Planetarium and Aquarium.

We are a family of 5 (3 boys ages 2 9 and 11. ) My oldest loves animal and science so probably would try to hit the chicago musuems. And My 9 year old is an art freak. He wants to either be an artist or design video games. And he has already designed his own board game complete with side quests, mini quests, hidden quests etc. For the last two years he has fixed his grandma's computer whenever it broke down. So he has got the talent for it. And my two year old just loves being outside and doing stuff.

Back to New Zealand! Hell yea!

I'm partial to sipping fruit drinks on a warm beach in the Caribbean.

I'd love to go back out to New Mexico and Arizona and spend a couple of weeks tooling around the various national parks out there, either with a tent and decent camping gear or a small travel trailer (built in bathroom! yay!). Some gorgeous places out there. It wouldn't eat up anything like the full $5k, though, unless we went nuts with souvenirs and such.

I'd also be very tempted to set up a trip to England, spend the part of the first week in London, and the rest of the time travelling around, sleeping in a different inn each night, finding out of the way neat places and historical sites that interested me to check out. Oh, and at least once get thoroughly lost.

As much as I'd like to include other family members I think I'd like to take off on my own. One trip I'd like is to go to Disney World. I've already been there twice but never really had the time to see stuff. Also just to not be there with people who haven't been there a thousand times before.

Or maybe just take off for some tropical resort and just sit on a beach for two weeks. Especially after the weather this week.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

Back to Jamaica for just that would have been my first choice, but I don't think it would be do-able for two weeks and $5000 at the resort I went to last

Hm, can we save it up and add it to the London trip we are planning for this august? An extra 5K would be handy ...

Otherwise, blow it all on a weekend in New York and spend the rest of the time at home.

Hands down I'd go back to Fiji - or take the SO to Cook Island.

Belize. It's touristy, warm, tropical, friendly, and not overcrowded. It also has Caribbean charm and English is the national language, so no language barrier. You could go conch fishing, snorkeling, explore the coastal islands, and more.
