So I've pulled my leatherworking stuff back out, got some nice tooling leather, and I'm learning about how to actually do the tooling part. I've been doing leatherworking for a number of years now, but never got into doing the decorative stuff on it since I usually work with lighter weight leathers.
I decided to make a box. It still needs to be painted/dyed and sealer applied and lining attached to the inside, but here's what I've got so far.

Just for the record, those curved corners are a BITCH, especially on the top.
What's fun is that I don't yet have any proper tools for doing the tooling, I'm using improvised tools. Boyfriend says he'll buy me a set of proper tools when his tax refund comes in. Fair enough.
I have a larger box in the works, it's all cut out and ready to be decorated, I just have to decide what I want to put on it. I'm thinking Celtic knotwork, and since the base is all one piece I should be able to do a continuous border around the sides, just gotta be careful that it'll match up properly when I fold it up. Then maybe a larger, more complex knot on the top.

He is my Black Dragon (and yes, a good one) strong, protective, the guardian. I am his Silver Dragon, always by his side, shining for him, cherishing him.
