    so as i am getting crap hours at work and am those lucky to buy minutes each month let alone save money for moving expenses, right now the plan to get me from Arizona to Montana is basically pack what i can into some suitcases, get on a bus and move said suitcases into my dorm/living arrangements.

    which means my furniture, consisting of two book cases one one dresser desk one chair one ottoman one bed and a tv on a microwave stand would stay with my mother, for her to use or store up to her. and my wonderful book collection to be mailed to me as needed/possible. the last bit due to the fact media mail means shipping a big box of books is not that bad.

    since i am just conceding defeat at this point i am going through the bookcase currently in use putting books i want to keep but wont be reading anytime soon in boxes and put the rest i decide i dont want, i find as i go, put into into a pile and am posting said books on PBS (or www.paperbackswap.com for those who don't know) so far i have about.... 20 books in this pile (and 4 boxes of various size hold from 7-25 books in them and the 25 book box has 6 hard back and 4 large paper backs... and i think im under estimating....)

    upon posting said books i had 10, thats right 10, immediately put on wishlist hold. Which include 5 Dresden files books, Kon Kon Kokon, Vol 1, Tarnished (St. Croix Chronicles, Bk 1), How to train your dragon, The Complete Fairy Tales of Brothers Grimm and surprisingly the most depressing and disturbing childrens book i ever read At the Back of the North Wind (not going to spoil but if your a crier don't read).

    with so many books in boxes i feel like the appocalypes has hit me and its only been one day!!!!

    now i just need to decide- do i keep my SM Sterling Emberverse book and my Laural K Hamiltion books, or just post them all too....

    How difficult is any particular book or group of books going to be to replace? Example, Hamilton is a current writer, most of her books are not that difficult to find copies of. I don't know how hard to find the other one. That's become one of my main criteria for 'do I keep this book or pass it along?' Prime example, John Myers Myers Silverlock. Hard to find, and fun to reread, so it earns a place in a keep box.

      Can you scrape up the money to mail the books to your new address? USPS Media Mail is dirt cheap, when i moved from NJ to Phx, it cost me about $21 per box compared to the next cheapest, UPS at about $60 IIRC. Sure, it took forever to get them, since Media Mail goes in the general direction where ever they have room for it, and sits until there's room, but it was that or throw them out (comics, books, magazines, cassettes and video tapes).

        not right away to be honest but over time most likely, until then they would sit in storage in my moms. first course of action is going ot be getting me there then we can worry about books.

        both are current writers, with large collections in the series. i could probably get them again easily.

          Exactly why we have been moving our book reading over to electronic books. I am fully cognizant that I will be in assisted living at some point, and am planning to have all of my reading matter in ebook form so it all can be accessed on a tablet. Hopefully at that time all areas I may end up in will also have wifi access so I can maintain a web presence on my email and message boards.
          EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

            As much as i enjoy my kindle sometimes books are better. Like with my older series. I like being able to run back and check other books when i forget something. and besides i own mostly full series.

                  Not to mention, sometimes regular books are cheaper. EBook version, $6+. Regular version, used? 1 penny plus $3.99 shipping. Might be roughly used, but as long as all the words are there...

                    my book case looks so empty. i feel sad..... but then.... i remember the comis and graphic novels in the crates in my closet.....

                    sooooooooo many...... i have almost 300 comics alone..... and now i want to re-read some them... i have the ouran highschool host club box set. and almost all the runaways.... and i have the girlfriends onimbuses
