  • charger help...

so I've gotten to the point where I have to many electronics, and not enough plugs near flat surfaces.

I remember seeing something somewhere where you place a thin strip of plastic behind the battery of your device and place it on this bar/platform and it charges it for you.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? is it any good? or is it a waste of money.

The process is called Inductive Charging. Here's some more info for you.

Another possible solution is to get a good power strip (or two, or three, depending on your needs), and plug as many of your device chargers into the strip(s) as will fit.

ETA: most of the power strips I've seen have holes in the bottom plate so that you can mount it to a wall if needed, if flat space is seriously at a premium for you.

        I don't have many...

        Ipod

        Ipad

        Android Phone

and the ipod and ipad have 2 different charger sizes that enter into the device itself.

I think I found something but its a bit pricey...but would keep the cords on hand for my being on campus alot this and next semester.

Another thing to consider might be a powered USB hub... If you have multiple devices charging via USB, this'll only take a single wall socket

Or anything else that has USB slots, like a TV or netbook/laptop

Re the iPod/iPad issue, you can get lightning-to-30-pin adapters that plug into the bottom of your lightning device. I'm not sure if this will plug into a charger though. But it might be worth considering.

OK, I read this post all the way through, believe I know what you're referring to.

What you MIGHT be thinking of is something called ThingCharger (saw a promotional video for it a while back, though it's not been patented yet

I like the wallet idea for organizing cables and keeping a usb hub right there. They also have a 4 port hub that just plugs directly into an outlet that isn't as expensive, if you don't need to take charging cables with you very often. You can probably find multi port charging hubs for even less if you look around, like this one from Newegg for $20.

Sega used to make a power strip that would suit your needs, OP. Just enough spacing between the outlets for some of the biggest wall warts. I'm sure some might be available on ebay.

you may be thinking of the Power Mat, it was a product like you said that would charge by you placing it on the small mat, the problem was you also had to get a special battery for your type of phone.
