Re: post-credits scene. I said, "Is that *spoilers*?" and my husband just nodded with his mouth hanging open, and then shook his head and said, "No. Just no." and got up and left the theater. I cracked up.

I went because my husband and I thought we were going on a double date with another couple. I wound up being the only woman in our group with 4 guys. I didn't have high expectations for the movie, but ended up absolutely loving Rocket and Groot.

Something I missed in that last scene that was pointed out to me:

Behind [him] was the cocoon from the Thor 2 end scene. Its open and empty now. If you know about the cocoon, you know who's out and about now for a future movie.

I quickly scrolled to quick response to avoid spoilers. I have never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy, ever. But my husband is chomping at the bit to see it soon and I'm like "Uuhh...ok..?". Hopefully we will see it tomorrow. The tree guy/Groot, looks cool.

I'd heard of Guardians of the Galaxy, but they're C- or D-level in terms of comic book teams in the Marvel-616 verse. No one ever expected that they'd get a movie, or get one so good.

Saw it last night. Scene with his mom hit me hard (mom is going through cancer right now) whispered yell at hubby for not warning me. He said he didn't know that was coming.
That bit hit me hard too, as my mother is just recovering from breast cancer.

Groot and Rocket were awesome. The audience in my cinema screening stayed put, smart guys

Hmm.... have to say I'm not a fan of it. Not to the point some others are on my friends list (ala a young child with Frozen...)
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

Finally saw it tonight, fun movie Thinking about it, I remembered something that the guys on the Rooster Teeth Podcast said once when a lot of the media for the movie first started coming out, and it made me laugh to think about it

"As I was looking at the Guardians preview, I realized that the way I would describe it is exactly the way my mother would describe video games when I was young. 'There's like a green guy, and there's a raccoon that flies a space ship, and talking tree men!'"

I gotta admit, it's pretty accurate

I did spot the cocoon though. Interesting...wondered if HE would make an appearance. He is going to be rather important, after all.

I saw it today in IMAX. Loved it.

Did crack up at the part with StarLord giving the police the finger in prison...his line during that scene was hilarious!
                    Groot dancing was cute too.

Me describing that one part has gotten six of my coworkers to go see the movie. I also advised on staying to the end of the credits.

Yeah, we found that out AFTER the movie. It actually works though

Speaking of chris Pratt, my SO's workplace has rigged up their system, so that at 9am every morning, it starts the day with part of the morning routine from the Lego movie. (Chris voices emmet) specifically the bit where the song kicks in up until the "drink overpriced coffee" line.

FINALLY went to go see it had the BEST theater, up until 5 minutes before the movie started it was just me in the theater...then one other guy showed up.

I LOVED groot....didn't realize about rocket....honestly I always thought that was his race...

but i SWEAR there were ninjas cutting onions behind me in the theater with 3 little words... "We are Groot."....damn ninjas.

can someone PM me about the coccoon? I didn't even see it either time and have no clue whats inside...

I saw it twice and watched for Adam's coccoon. In the Collector's area, you can see it when they deliver the orb and it is still intact.

I didn't stay to the end the second time so I couldn't tell if it is still intact or not.

Part of me (and some of the other people I know) is hoping that if the coccoon is open, it means Adam might be around and might even show up in the Dr. Strange movie.

I had never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy. And when the film came out, I had no idea what it was about. But so many people in general and my friends in particular have been so utterly raving about it, more than any movie in recent memory, that I just had to see it. And I did so tonight, in 3-D.

I don't say this often, but....it lived up to the hype. May go see it again.

Added bonus: until the opening credits, I had no idea Karen Gillan was in it. Sweet!
