  • This is why I love {insert game here} !

    Just for shits & giggles.

Post an anecdote, or a picture, or whatever, about something in a game you play that makes you chuckle; no matter the reason. The era doesn't matter, you can post something about freakin' Pong if you want to. (Just keep in mind that -- as usual -- if you post an image, you MUST include a description, even if it's a short one. Remember to use WIMG tags, or PM a mod to apply them for you, if the pic is huge). Have fun with it. Blow off a little steam.

    Soooo...Here we..go.

Baldur's Gate 2: Anything involving Minsc... the only original character in the entire series to get his own Wikipedia article.

Protagonist: I am clearly deranged. Look who I travel with! Minsc, meet the Pirate Lord!
Minsc: Pirate Lord? Such a name does not conjure images of righteous behavior. Stand still a moment and let Boo have a look at you.
Desharik: Er, why is your friend pointing a hamster at me?
Minsc: Boo will soon have you figured out. You certainly seem friendlier that I would think a Pirate Lord would be. And where is your peg?
    Desharik: My--- what?
Minsc: Your peg, A proper pirate has a peg, whether a leg, arm or… uh… some other expendable extremity. And a parrot.
    Desharik: A parrot?
Minsc: Certainly! As I have my Boo, so too must you have your parrot. Boo likes parrots. They could wrassel.
Desharik: I've seen enough. Congratulations, you are on your way to Spellhold. You are clearly a danger to the general community. By the gods. I think I'm stupider for talking to you. Stupider? More Stupid? Get them out of my sight, all of them! They may all have this disease of the mind.
The whole game is full of things like that, but only if you have Minsc with you.

Minsc really is the true heart of that game. That's one of the reasons I'm so looking forward to the comic.

The death animation for treants in World of Warcraft. Trunk (body) sliced in half, top and bottom. The creature looks comically confused then the top half just sliiiiiiides off the bottom half and they both fall over. Makes me giggle every time.

In Dragon Age 2 Varric keeps popping off with comments that make me laugh.

Here's a list of a lot of his dialog:

ACF is a modified and expanded WA1, and it's quite good; Iconsider it a very worthy upgrade, and they knew what not to change. It uses the engine from 3 (you "discover" towns, items, and other places on the world map with your radar), IIRC, minus the sometimes nausea-inducing shifting patterns in WA3's character art style. The main story is basically identical, right up to the point where you see a little red balloon float off into the sky...

Next game up: The Fallout series. It's really hard to pin just one thing really great about it, so let's just say everything in the main 3 games, from beginning to end, along with Fallout: New Vegas. (The other games are optional, IMO.) Here's a few select quotes:

"Seth is the captain of the guards. Between you and me, he couldn't guard a fruit if it was nailed to his leg."

"God I wish I had a limit break..." (Yes, Fallout 2 references Final Fantasy VII.)

"Well, check out this bouquet of assholes."

These games just do not take themselves seriously. Monty Python references everywhere (in New Vegas, you can find the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, and graffiti that reads "ROMANES EUNT DOMUS"), Mad Max references (the jacket and Dogmeat), various other pop culture references... you get the picture.

I'm in love with the Tales series, and I just picked up Tales of Xillia yesterday.

It's pretty entertaining so far, I'd say. The main character, Jude, is a genius! I mean just look at this screenshot I took yesterday:

Weird, that way worked just fine on the way in...!
