I've got an associates in Applied Sciences (medical assisting) but fell into Criminal Justice working at a correctional facility. at one point in time, if I had gone back to school, it would have been for nursing. Now I guess I'd go for.. social work?

Working (and actually doing quite well), on a BA in Business Management and Marketing...It is by snark alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire 'tude, the lips acquire mouthiness, the glares become a warning.

After spending the better part of 8 years as a part-time student at the local University I applied for and received an Associates in Science (job i was looking at required one) and year later; a BGS in Science. I skipped both graduation ceremonies and took two nice long multi-day kayaking trips on a local river instead. Never been one much for pomp and circumstance and Maya Angelou was the guest speaker at both, she rambled for over an hour at each of them (more power to ya if that's what you like, it isn't for me). My former sister-in-law gave me some grief over it right up till I reminded her she skipped her Masters Degree Ceremony for a mountain bike race...
A tech certificate in my chosen field of laser welding is my next educational goal. The preference of course is to have the company I work at for pay it all. That however requires getting the powers that be let me travel to Vegas for 5 days; something apparently forbidden for those below Senior Management.

I forgot to add to my original post: in the course of my BA, I also took classes in sociology, French, Asian studies and legal studies. So I have some knowledge in those fields
I'm planning on going for my certificate II in auslan when I can find the time to do so. (For the record, a Cert II is a vocational degree and takes about a year or two to finish. )The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

I have a very old Diploma in hotel & catering management. Got that back in the 80's.
Over the last decade or so I've been slowly working towards a general BSc or BA, not decided yet, with the Open University.
I'm almost there but the last couple of years I've not managed to study due to lack of funds/brain fog
Part of my OU studies was a CCNA course which I passed, but I didn't take the official Cisco exam to get the qualification.Arp happens!
Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

I've been working on a BCom majoring in accounting for thr last 7 years. Keep getting lured away by the appeal of a full time wage.
To be honest I don't even want to be an accountant anymore. Only parts I enjoy would require more study (management major or law degree) and my written english skills aren't good enough for that.
I do have a certificate in make up artistry and one in hotel front office. Oh and a bunch of random credits from when I worked at McDonald's.

I started back to school in 2008 after "flunking out" 22 years prior (in my defense I was only 18 and was more interested in bars than books). I have attended classes part time up until May of 2013, I had every intention of going back that fall but my brother ended up with some legal and medical issues and was homeless so I took a year off to help him out (he is mentally challenged and desperately needed my help after his roommates severly exploited him financially, mentally and emotionally). I hope to go back in the spring as I am only 6 or 7 classes from my BS in business management. Right now I cannot afford to pay for classes. I am looking to continuing my education by working towards a degree in special education or social services. I worked in the restaurant business for over 28 years but left permantely last year and I now work for an agency that provides direct support to individuals with varying degrees of disabilities, every thing from downs syndrome to brain injuries. My official title is Associate Instructor and I work in the community homes teaching and supporting individuals in their home life (cooking, cleaning, self medication, shopping, community activities, budgets and such). I LOVE the job and the people I support so much! It is awesome so I would like to further my education in that capacity.

I've got a B.A. in Psychology. Mental and physical disability issues have prevented further education so far, though. >_>"And so all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride!"

It is pretty awesome. But I feel kind of naked suddenly. I never even graduated from high school (got my GED as soon as I was legally allowed to after I dropped out of high school at 16), and never could figure out what I wanted to major in during the two years I attended.Quoth Amina516 View PostI love that there is such a variety of background on CS.
