One thing about this show, is every season I seem to learn something I didn't know before.

This season, it's about the dead pedal. I know the area, but I didn't know what it was called... And though it's obvious in hindsight, I never thought that "yes, the front driver's side wheel IS right below my dead-pedal foot."

Is that a reference to automatic transmission, where the left foot has nothing to do? I can assure you, it *does* have something to do on a manual transmission.

It's not just automatic transmission cars that have a dead petal. Just like the brake, you shouldn't leave your foot resting on the clutch petal all the time. If you are shifting so much that you never move your foot from the clutch petal, you really should think about buying an automatic transmission car. the cars burned out clutch would thank you.

          Dead pedal?
That's where the starter and high/low beam switches live.

Heh speaking of burned out clutch, there was a season of canadas worst driver (I believe it was season 6) where they did a see saw challenge in a manual. The only people who could do it properly were a biker (since motorcycles are manuals) and the slowest driver on the show at the time. Everyone else wound up burning out the clutches on their car to the point where the last contestant couldn't even do the challenge because they ran out of cars!

Funnily enough, the biker actually managed to get the car more level than ANDREW did....and did it faster too!

So I just finished watching the latest episode. I can't believe how pleased I am to be wrong about the final two. He still needs work, but he finally realized what he was doing wrong all this time. I just hope he doesn't forget that.

So here we are, second to last episode. I was very surprised by who graduated this week. At this point I have no idea who if any of the last three will be given the title Canada's Worst Driver. All three are bad enough to get it.

I disagree. Siham has shown time and time again that she's technically adept WITHOUT her husband in the car, it's just that confidence issue. She also shows more awareness when she screws up. Chanie and Jason on the other hand, do not. Chanie seems to be oblivious for the most part (with the exception of the distracted driving challenge) and is heavily lacking experience. Jason is just...thick.

Also is it just me or is Andrew becoming hammier with each season?

I think he's slowly being driven insane. Which does bring into question why he took on the show Don't Drive Here! which clearly wouldn't help.

He's the subject of a 10 year experiment by the Discovery Channel. "How much can we put a Newfie through to drive them stark raving mad?"

As for the final three, I am a little surprised at who they graduated; hopefully post-show training will help him more.

Siham was ready to go last week, so short of a complete breakdown, she should be an easy release.

Jason has confidence issues and getting used to his glasses. With the moments of brilliance we've seen from him on some challenges, I suspect he'll probably do decently enough to get out as the final graduate. It'll be a close call but I feel he's a hair better than Chanie.

Chanie, hasn't really shown she's gotten any of the lessons or challenges to date. She's been consistantly bad, which to me means she's going to get the trophy in the end.

I know from experience that it takes a lot to make a Newfoundlander break, and when they do...run! I think the wackiness is a coping mechanism, tbh. I've only lived here for about 7.5 years and it's rubbed off on me more than a little bit.

The last episode is done. I am sooooo glad I don't live anywhere near any of the final three. I was surprised by Jason in the first challenge. I hoped that his good day would keep him going for the rest. Siham and Chanie did just about how I expected. I do think that Chanie is her own worst enemy. Anyone that knows that they need medication to be able to focus and doesn't take it for two weeks shouldn't be driving. Siham needs to spend more time in a drivers education program.

I think that's why the results came down as they did. Jason needs more practice driving when he can actually see, and away from the pressure of the show.

Siham needs more practice away from the show to build up her confidence in general.

Chanie on the other hand, showed little improvement through the show. That she needs medication was just the topper; all the practice away from the show strain won't help her until the basics are addressed.

As for the Hamilton drive, I can give Jason a bit of a pass on that ( and he was one of the 'better' for the drive, but that's not saying much). He's from a smaller city whereas the other two were from Calgary. Jason will rarely have to experience big city driving on the scale of Hamilton or bigger for the rest of his life. Chanie and Siham will have to be driving in a BIGGER city regularly from here on out.

My question is why the hell the show isn't requiring medical information when the drivers are nominated. Even canadas worst handyman had a contestant that had frequent blood pressure issues and he learnt from Andrew how to keep it under control.

As for the final 3, I can understand the winner and I am VERY glad it wasn't siham. She more than likely just needs some time with a shrink to go through techniques to stop her panicking on the road, as well as doing some practice in quieter areas first.

ETA: if Chanie is taking medication for focusing, am I right in guessing that it's likely ADHD or anxiety?
