oh ok, that makes sense...I didn't mean to come across like you were being untruthful so I'm sorry if it sounded like I was, it's just several carnations of the site ago we had a regular poster who disappeared & then a newbie signed up claiming to be said poster's friend/family & informing us that the regular poster had passed away only for said poster to suddenly resurface later saying they screwed around with us for shits & giggles

That said, I'm truly sorry to hear this news & my sympathies go out to you & his friends/family
Why would anyone do that? It's true - the world IS full of assholes.

But no worries, I'd be a little leery too under the circumstances. I was a little shocked to see Anthony's name pop up on the screen when I was trying to post. Then I realized he must have had had the 'remember password' thing set in Firefox. I figured he'd have cleared all that stuff off the laptop before he sold it to me.

I hope it's not what I think it is.

          Wow

Sorry to say, but my senses are tingling in that direction as well. I can't think of any other reason why his family would be so hush-hush about the circumstances.

Not a good ending for the year for us. We've lost Redheadwithglasses earlier in the year and now ADMartino.

May he rest in peace and wherever he is now. And may we all remain safe and sound.

                RIP, ADMartino.

However, why would the family keep things so secret? If he was killed in an accident, murdered by a stranger or enemy or died of illness or old age (sorry, but I don't know how old he was), then they should not have any qualms about announcing his death and method of death.

If someone they knew and loved had murdered him, or was otherwise responsible for his death, though, I would understand.

Or perhaps he died in a most embarrassing way. Let's hope it's that last reason why they kept things hush-hush.

I only know a few members outside of here, sadly he wasn't one of them. I don't know if his family will see this but I offer my condolences to them, and to the op.

Got the word yesterday. Yes, it was a suicide. I suspected as much when his brother stone-walled me with regard to the manner of his death. Though based on what I heard, the term 'self-euthanasia' is probably a more accurate description of Anthony's passing.

What it boiled down to is cancer, advanced and inoperable.

How do I know this? I got a packet from his lawyer yesterday. In it was a letter from Anthony, written shortly before he took that last step. He explained all this at detail.

Of course, he didn't want to endure the final stages of the disease. Nobody in their right mind would. But Anthony had other reasons, too. See, a disease like cancer doesn't just make the patient miserable. It puts everyone close to him through the wringer, too. And Anthony didn't want his friends or family to see him in decline. He did NOT want to be remembered that way.

Under similar circumstances, I cannot say I wouldn't do exactly the same thing. Whatever your feelings regarding suicide, please just remember that he isn't suffering. Everyone around him will mourn his loss, but they/we won't have to have witnessed his final days at the hands of that damnable disease.

In the wake of all this, I am learning just what assholes some people can be. That packet I mentioned? It wasn't just the letter in there. The rest of the contents were paperwork, the title, and the keys to Anthony's beloved old Ford pickup, the one he'd been working on restoring. Yes, Anthony left me his truck. He wanted to leave the truck to someone who would appreciate and care for it the way he had.

It was quite a surprise, to be sure. But now for the 'asshole' part. Seems Anthony's brother (yes, the same one!) thinks HE should get the truck, and this morning he called me demanding I sign it over to him, 'or else'. Let me tell you about the brother - he couldn't care LESS about that truck - 'that f*cked up old jalopy' in his own words. He only sees dollar signs on everything, and I'd bet a year's pay he's already got a buyer for it.

So yeah, I can see a battle coming. I have no doubt he's going to file a legal challenge to the will.

I hope that he's at peace now.

As for the truck, and the brother, I would suggest you get a lawyer. I really hope he doesn't go this route, but if he does, you will need legal advice. Good luck!
