This one is mostly on me.
We were moving my bed, through a back door we do not use often, except to load/unload things and going out to dry laundry on the lines. The steps are cinder blocks (not even mortared together), with no real foundation. Recently, they have started to wobble a bit.
My Father (80, who is as active as a 50 year old) was helping load my head board, and fell when one of the loose cinder blocks moved. Hurt his leg a bit, broke his glasses, and needed 4 stitches above his eye. It could have been anyone on that side though.
My brother has been bugging me since he moved back in, with his wife, to get those stairs fixed (I am in charge of the well being of the house and estate). But Father and I said, "No, they are fine. We just need to be careful on those steps."
So stupid on my part. Luckily, Father was not seriously injured, but it could have been worse.
I am now carrying things to the other door to load, as I no longer trust those steps. They will be replaced, as soon as the lumber yard is open on Monday and order a solid set of steps (putting in some foundation this time).
