  • Gastric Sleeve.

Well.. if everything goes right, as of FEB 18 I will begin the process to get a Gastric Sleeve, which is supposed to help a lot of my medical issues. I will be nervous and even scared, and hoping to get support here. I will be loosing 80% of my stomach. Scary thing.

Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Is this going to help with the varices?

Yes. Takes pressure off my liver. It will also help counter diabetes, because if I am not eating as much.. less carbs to increase my blood sugar. The risk is a worse liver (how this works I don't know, but this is what I was told by a doctor) but since I am on the transplant list, this is not an issue for me. Now there are other risks, infection, bleeding, etc. Since I already bleed, that doesn't concern me much either.

I hope everything goes well. Sending good thoughts your way.

I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Its official, March 11th is the day I go in for the actual surgery. One day stayover at the hospital, then three or four mandatory bed rest.

I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

My guess would be because you will be metabolizing food differently. The liver plays an important role in digestion, and in detoxifying the by products of metabolism.

Well, I wish you the very best going forward with this surgery. I will pray for a quick and uneventful recovery, and an improvement in your health until you get a transplant!

Today they decided to postpone the surgery, maybe indefinitely. Just when a glimmer of hope is found..

Damn. It takes a lot out of you to face major surgery, and then being let down like that.
I hope the transplant will come soon if they won't reschedule.
