AGAIN this year I HAS ROSE BLOOMS in my basement

After loosing ALL of my rose bushes over last winter' bone chilling mind numbing cold, I put all of my new bushes in the basement in what could be called a cold storage room. Not nearly as cold as the outside but not toasty warm as the rest of the house. I figured they would just go into (at least partial) hirbernation and they would remain warm enough to survive the winter. I leave a compact florescent light running 24/7 and water with small amounts of water every week or two.

About a month ago I noticed NEW green shoots growing.

Tonight I went down to do some laundry and saw several bloom buds and 2 HAD JUST OPENED, YESSSSSSSSS and one is about the same color and size of my avatar above/
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Nice. My first orchid bloom opened today, their flower stems this year are absolutely monstrous. The biggest one is over 4 feet long, with 5 or 6 branches off the main stem, and the plant that grew it has a SECOND flower stem growing as well. 3 of 4 of the orchids have 2 flower stems, the 4th one just has the single one. The plants themselves have more than doubled in size in the past couple of years, and I may very well need to repot them AGAIN into bigger (and heavier) pots later this year. They're in 10 and 12 inch ceramic and terra cotta pots now. I've also got some miniature roses, pretty yellow blossoms that smell wonderful. I've got 1 bloom fully open and 4 more showing color on one of them, the other is sending up new shoots so it'll have blooms before much longer, too.

My daffodils were starting to poke up, but hadn't bloomed when we got the cold snap. I don't know how they're going to do

I'm assuming everything in my yard except the apple tree is completely flattened, nay, compressed by the snow into some sort of negative dimension. And the only reason I leave the tree out of that assumption is that at least I can still see the tree!!!
