Mytical -- I sent a voice sample to you via that MediaFire folder I PM'd you a day or two ago. You can upload stuff there, too, if you like, and even use it to send files to anyone here helping out with this project. It's just a couple lines of my silly "Glittermas" song (hey, the xmas card exchange is only a few months away, y'all! ) so you can get an idea of how I sound. All 3 files are the same thing (MP3, FLAC, Audacity)

Wow. I have no idea what kind of voice talent you have, but you have definite talent as a lyricist. Those lyrics actually brought tears to my eyes. I would love to hear the finished product.

It comes from my personal experience with doctors. They keep telling me that there is nothing anybody can do. I will only get worse.

PS, I had a fan running nearby, is it audible? I wanted to make sure the pop filter on my headset is up to snuff. It gets warm up in here, so I gotta have some form of cooling running unless it's the middle of the night. ^_^;>

Kit. The object of the thread was to get some music with the lyrics (I can neither read or write music). Since we started working on it, I learned it was 'clunky' in spots.. so I've started trimming to make it better. Once I have a great sample of something I can burn to a CD that works in CD players, I would really welcome any choir who wants to sing it. In fact if they wanted to sing it, share it, etc .. it will be freeware

Erik - I don't know I really liked the second one, the lyrics need to be trimmed, but you have an amazing voice.

Note : I do intend on copywriting the song.. but that will just be so somebody else doesn't. Like when I preach I won't ever charge even a dime.

They're meant to be two "lines" that could both be used at once in the final song, though the mixing would definitely require someone who knows more about mixing software than I do. Once you've had a chance to play with the lyrics, we can figure out what to omit in the bassline -- it feels better to have it act as a choral echo/support role, not necessarily singing every word.

Of course, we still need our sopranos and altos (and hey, tenors!) up in here! Let us hear your pipes, ladies and germs! ^_^

Kit - Yes. The standard SATB ranges are considered to be in the Modal Register; Falsetto is the one above those. Someone like Mariah Carey can reach into the Whistle Register (as well as bass, iirc), which is another register higher.

I can mix. I probably don't have the courage to sing, but I can mix. Also, if someone can tell me the chords (or just the notes in the current bassline and melody line), I'd be able to arrange more from that so we have 4-part harmony. (Assuming this is needed, after all.)

The MediaFire link I posted has what I've done so far (about 5 posts up; I have not yet done anything with the revised lyrics). This is very very preliminary Any future stuff I sing will go in there, too.

Mytical sent out a sample of what he has in mind, and I just kinda improvised from there, so nothing is set in stone. We got us some more singers in here ... Let's hear what y'all can do! It doesn't matter if it complements what we have, provides a counterpoint for harmony, or ignores it completely (hell, I am assuming that the main line will be Alto, with my stuff as harmony to accompany it). I know plenty of you are plenty creative-y types. (technical term there)

PS - Mytical, I just noticed what you said about copyright. Any piece of literature/music/film that is distributed is considered Copyrighted (at least in the US) because of the DMCA -- however, it would probably be wise to register it with whatever agency governs such things once it's ready, even if it is free.
