Recently I've been having a lot of truly weird dreams. They're all different, but seem to have a common theme: being late for something because of something random/weird. Here's a couple examples:
-In my dream I'm about 32 weeks pregnant but the baby needs to be born NOW. I'm at a friend's house, but it's not really his house. He takes me to a hospital that doesn't exist nearby his house, but nobody will see me there, and nobody will take me to the hospital that I know exists just a little bit away. I go back to my friend's apartment really stressed out because I know the baby is going to be born because I can't get to the hospital, but he's busy because there's all these things that have to be done first and they're just taking so long.
-In another dream, my sister and I are playing in the pit orchestra for a musical at the high school I went to when I was in 9th grade. Now, to be fair, that high school had a nearly professional theater, with everything but an actual automated pit (there was a pit, but it didn't have a floor that could be raised and lowered...it had just about everything else, including flooring appropriate for pointe shoes, professional flys, and acoustics.) So, my mother and I arrive in my father's beat up old Ford Ranger (that no longer exists), and we're supposed to be bringing her oboe to her. I gather all my stuff, but when I get inside, I discover my mother left the oboe in the truck. I go out to get it but the truck isn't where I thought it was. I wind up running all around the school looking for the truck (noticing there's now a 7-11 and a pizza shop by the front office), but the truck isn't anywhere it should be. The parking lot seems to have changed shape since we've parked. I can't find it, but I head back into the theater, and the teacher, who's my oldest son's current drama teacher, lets me in the stage entrance. At this point, I woke up.
-In yet another dream I'm trying to get the contents of my current house packed into a U-haul. Now, if you've ever seen my house, you would realize if we ever had to move the entire contents of the house we wouldn't need a U-Haul, we'd need Wolfie and his Peterbuilt of Natural Selection, along with a 53 foot trailer. At least. My boyfriend has been in the house for 21 years, it's a large house (4300 or 4700 square feet, depending on which set of plans you believe), and he's a bit of a pack rat). Anyway, in my dream I'm trying to get stuff into boxes, but I just can't seem to get it all done. Nothing is going to way it's supposed to, and somehow I'm supposed to drop everything and go to a formal event, in a ball gown and everything later in the evening, so I'm packing while wearing a long, poofy ball gown. Also, the piano that's downstairs (not to be confused with the piano on the middle floor...because doesn't everybody have two pianos?), seems to have been glued into place with some sort of permanent sticking charm. My mother shows up to help move the piano, and that's when I wake up.
There have been other dreams with different scenarios, but they always boil down to the same thing: I need to get something done and something bizarre or strange keeps me from doing it. I'm not much into the idea that dreams mean something, but after enough dreams of the same theme, I begin to wonder.
