I've had cats try to follow me home from across town (would take them if I didn't know they already had slaves or are semiferal).

Good luck with that. When Bast sends you a cat, you've got a cat.
Well, she will make an exception if the environment isn't good*, she'll just send extra when it is.

*she sent me a kitten when I lived somewhere with carpeting, husband's(now ex) allergies were bad, once we moved to a place with hardwood floors I got the two I have now "dumped" on me, husband had zero allergy problems.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

        My family, too.
Mine as well, my dad was chosen more than once.
Our shelter cats were microchipped as well.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

One of the best cats I ever had adopted me like that.
We've had several over the years adopt us like that. Something about our house, I guess.

First Christmas we lived here, we had a small black/white longhair show up on our front porch and was peeking in the front door. We had him (we named him Harry) for not quite 2 years IIRC before he got sick and we had to have him put to sleep (feline luekemia, which also resulted in us losing another 4 cats and we had to wait at least 2 years before bringing another one into the house.)

But the last two adult cats we have both showed up on our front porch (Poodles was just a tiny kitten when he came w/one of the older neighborhood cats, Tinkerbelle had been coming up and eating for a spell before she started to feel comfortable enough to start coming into the house.) Once she started coming inside, she's never left.

And now we have 4 growing kitties who were born here and are actually in charge of the house. Thanks, Tink.
