I lived on ensure, slim fast is actually the same nutrition-wise and between the two there's a good variety of flavors.

do a google search(soft foods after oral surgery) as there's plenty of lists to be found on the interwebs, there's even full cookbooks for it because some folks have more than just temporary problems.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Seconded on Ensure. I've been using it (with more success than others at times) as part of a weight-loss plan. One bottle substitutes for a light meal, for me anyway And if one of those can satisfy me for 3 or 4 hours (not exactly a petite dude), they can satisfy anyone. ^_^ The milk chocolate one tastes kinda like a chocolate malt without quite enough sugar in it...Not *bad*, not *incredible*, but better than it sounds.

I had a rough oral surgery last year. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes, soups, and smoothies for two weeks. Then softer foods like pastas and soft veggies for a month or so. Just be careful of any good with extra "bits" as they can get stuck in the socket.

Applesauce, I third...or fourth...ensure. I had a bad seizure in high school and loosened my front teeth. Glucerna is another option as well. Bolthouse makes some great protein shakes. I drink the vanilla ones on my early days at work
