I'd try it but the only thing I'll probably write that has 50k words is a freaking MLA research paper that's due in 2 weeks

I signed up. Probably a stupid thing for me to do this year, but I signed up.
Hashing out an outline that is a sort of mesh of a fanfic idea I had a while back for an MMORPG I used to play and elements from the book I'm currently reading.
We'll see how it goes.Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

As much as I like the idea, I also think it is a little bit of a BAD idea since every year at the same month, it dumps an abrupt pile of more content into an already oversaturated market.
I've got a couple of books that I've pretty much finished at the moment but am having a heck of a time getting ANY publishers locally to even look at them because every year when Nano rolls around, they get bombarded with a ton of stories of varying quality. I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to say "To heck with it, I'm going indie" and just publishing through amazon - though their royalty rate is nothing short of highway robbery.
I ended up actually changing my specialisation at University and have been focussing on screenplay writing rather than novels after having so much trouble interacting with publishers.Violets are blue,

I signed up. My author page is here, if you want to see it. I am...nervous.1129. I will refrain from casting Dimension Jump and Magnificent Mansion on every police box we pass.

I'm not doing NaNo this year. I have immanent surgery coming (as in could be any week soon) so I don't know if I'll be in a fit state to do it.
I may try doing a piece of artwork everyday though because I can do anything from a small doodle to a full watercolour piece. As soon as I start thinking

I don't know about anybody else here, but I also take part in at least one Camp Nanowrimo month a year. It usually happens during the summer months (here in the Northern Hemisphere, that is) and it's along the same lines as NaNoWriMo but you can set your own word count and what not so it's a bit less stressful for those of us who tend to panic at the 50K word count for November each year.
I took part in the last ScriptFrenzy, held in 2012. That was a different experience for me as I've never written one before...I failed miserably, but at least I can say I tried

Decided I'm most likely going to sit this one out. I have something brewing but it doesn't feel "solid" enough yet, there are several major plot points I'm not sure of. I'll work on it at my own pace.
Of course, I said this last year, too, and then signed up at the last minute when I had a sudden inspiration

Ok, people, we're hours in already! Make with the words! My webcomic is called Sidekick Girl. Val's job is kinda like retail, except instead of corporate's dumb policies, it's the Hero Agency, and the SC's are trying to take over the world.

Well, after leaving a write-in last night nearly in tears because I couldn't write an opening sentence, I finished Day 1 with 1,882 words. I want to write more, but it's time for work.
No need to be nervous. The SLC NaNo group is amazing. Most of us stayed in contact and got together throughout the year after last November. Even if you can't make it to any of the physical write-ins, the chat is where most of us live all month long. We organized our own writer's circle after last NaNo, the Freaky Fiction Faction. I'll send you an invite on facebook

Had I more time to dedicate, I'd try NaNoWriMo. Well, that's what I tell myself every year anyway. Of course, I've never been a super serious writer, anyway. Nothing finished, let alone ever published. I love writing. I've been doing it since I could hold a pencil. It's an outlet and a perfect pastime for me. Now if I could stop "tinkering" with it, and actually write out and finish something, that'd be great. I'll just be over here, watching the rest of you in awe, in the meantime!"And though she be but little, she is FIERCE!"--Shakespeare
