  • The "Things That Change" Game

I often see ads for those slideshow style articles with headlines that make proclamations like, "Check out these celebrities who used to be awkward kids/teens but turned into attractive adults," or, "Shocking pictures of celebrities who used to be young and attractive but aged and somehow became ugly!"

I usually ignore those, but they got me thinking today: Celebrities are still human, right? We're aware that humans change as time passes, right? In fact, I'd dare say that everything changes as time passes. So those articles could be changed to include just about anything. So I thought it might be fun to make a fill-in-the-blanks game of it, almost like Mad Libs.

    Like this:
"Check out these [nouns] from [number] [period of time] ago that used to [description of past characteristics] but now [description of current characteristics]!"

Make your own Things That Change headline!

    I'll start.

"Check out these conifers from 40 years ago that used to be scrawny little saplings but now have grown into a forest of strong, stately trees!"
I suspect that... inside every adult (sometimes not very far inside) is a bratty kid who wants everything his own way.

"Enough expository banter. It's time we fight like men. And ladies. And ladies who dress like men. For Gilgamesh...IT'S MORPHING TIME!"

"Check out these closed railway lines from fifty years ago that used to be lossmaking and surplus to requirements but now are being rebuilt to satisfy demand!"

The first thing that came to mine was badly into fratching territory. I think I'll sit this one out.

Check out this cheap-ass no-name 10' tablet you bought from the swamp for $80 that used to let you kill time on Facebook, YouTube, E-mail and the internet but now stopped working three minutes after the warranty expired.
