    I need birthday gift ideas

    My birthday is Christmas Eve, which is pretty much the suckiest birthday ever. Well, maybe Christmas Day is worse. Anyway, I don't particularly like celebrating my birthday but one thing I do like to do is find some kid whose had a tough year and also has a Christmas Eve birthday and buy something special for him or her. It's sort of a "one Christmas Eve baby to another" kind of thing and it's my present to myself.

    This year I've found out about a girl who's about to be 11 whose pretty much been through hell. I picked her, but I haven't gotten much information about what kinds of things she likes. What I know is that her favorite color is light blue and she like hair and bath stuff. Based on that, she seems to be a girly girl, which means I'm out of my element. I was a tomboy, and I have all boys, so other than the boring basic stuff, I have no clue what to get.

    Any ideas?

    If that is all the information you have, I would find a light blue make up bag, fill it with some flavored chap stick, maybe a lip gloss (no bright colors), some cutesy hair barrettes, rubber bands, head bands and the like. Maybe a cute little necklace. I would also find a little bath set, with bubble bath, body wash and lotion. Because I tend to over buy, and I don't know her circumstances, I would probably get some of those little stretchy magic gloves, a hat and some cool looking socks. Because I STILL over buy, I would get one of those little craft sets that let you make your own bracelets/necklaces and stuff like that.

      My budget is around $50, so I can probably get all that and then some if I shop carefully.

      And I do know the circumstances, but don't want to broadcast it to the word. I just don't know anything beyond what I've already said as far as her likes.

          Add to April's suggestion maybe a pretty scarf in shades of blue? Though I think instead of make up bag I'd go with an actual purse, or maybe a small backpack (got a couple myself, too small for schoolbooks but great for little stuff). Possibly with the makeup bag of goodies in it.

          Sparkly and bright and metallic ink gel pens! My niece (who is the girliest girl ever) went absolutely gonzo over a set of pens a friend got for me. Don't blame her really, so did I.

            If she likes bath stuff you might get her a bath bomb from Lush. They run about 7-10 bucks depending on the type. You can look them up on youtube and watch the demo videos. They spit out pretty coloured foam, color the water and smell good and are a lot of fun to watch so it would be fun for a child her age to watch it foam up and then scent up the tub.
