  • The Ridiculous 6

I saw a 15 second ad on Youtube for this movie.

Adam Sandler, Terry Crews (Old Spice Guy) and Taylor Lautner () among other stars will be in it.

Given the disaster that was his last movie, and a bunch of his previous movies for that matter, I don't get it.

I especially don't get why Lautner agreed to be a part of it. (Lack of work, maybe?)

I'll give it a chance, but hopes are not high for this one.

I don't know how good (or bad) movies by that particular company are. I saw an ad for this movie, too. Looks to me like a western comedy. I'm guessing it'll probably be the usual Adam Sandler style comedy.

You remind me of a couple of anecdotes regarding known cinematic disasters of the past. Supposedly:

      - When Dennis Hopper's kids asked him why he played King Koopa in "Super Mario Bros," he told them that it was so that they "could have shoes to wear." Their response...? "We don't need shoes that badly, Daddy."

      - On the flip side: Raul Julia is said to have accepted the part of M. Bison in "Street Fighter" because his kids were big fans of the games, and begged him to take it. He knew it was gonna be bad, and he wanted to make them happy, so he took the role and hammed it up for all it was worth. Word has it that the kids loved him as Bison ...But for him, it was Tuesday

From what I have heard, it seems to go back to his original comedy, which was actually kinda funny, as opposed to the latest poop joke style I've seen, which was not.

Please note, have not yet watched it myself, but the trailer did entertain me, so I'll get around to watching it.

i tryed to watch it (its on netflix) i got to a ' get to kill an injun', a gang on one eye bandits making rapey overtures and making jokes of a white guy dressed in buckskins... and said fuck it.
That was like the first 5 minutes.

It's on my netflix under 'recommended for you'. I glanced over the spiel, and started looking for the way to select 'get this thing out of my recommendations and never show me again'.

They've removed that option from the UI at the moment. (At least in Aussieland netflix.) I'm going to complain.

My husband tried to get me to watch it with him last night. I got to the part where a guy had to scoop his own eye out with a spoon (you see the guy's shadow as he does it, but it's not any less cringe-worthy) and stopped paying attention.

Not a good movie. At all.

Rumour has it that during the filming of the Twilight movies, Lautner's dad took over as Lautner's manager and started making outrageous/outlandish/dickish demands for his son. This lead to a string of movie projects that kept being put off due to 'scheduling conflicts' and 'prior commitments'. Eventually producers stopped calling. That's why his filmography on Wikipedia is pretty sparse. I've also heard that Lautner's father is Mr. Super Nice Guy now, but it seems to have damaged his son's career to the point where no one really wants to deal with them, and only time will tell if it'll recover.

EDIT: "Ridiculous 6"... isn't this the Adam Sandler project that a bunch of Aboriginal Americans (or Native Americans) walked off the set because of the racist portrayal in the movie?

Oh yeah, I watched that movie when it was called Blazing Saddles. And that movie is so much better because it's just so outrageous.

Ah. Well in that case I'm not going to bother with it. looks like another one where the trailer shows the only funny bits...

I'll just go re-watch Blazing Saddles for I don't know how many times XD

heres what people dont realize- the old west can be funny if you do it right.
Maverick? Funny because the main character was charming a little silly but serious and dedicated. So the people swindling him and the tension creates the commedy.
The premise of this movie could work.

put adam sandler in a role where he can be kind of serious but sweet and maybe innocent. Heck at his age make him a middle age prospector or small time rancher, give him a sweet wife or a stiff wife (because the first 5 minutes gave him a random native soon to be wife who comes off as.... too much of the straight man in the relationship without saying more than 3 words) and you can keep the other part of the premise to make it work.

The premise was a man trying to rescue his father with the help of the 5 brothers he didn't know he had. YOU COULD REALLY WORK WITH THIS PREMISE!!! why did you have to make it a gross out comedy!!!!????!!!!!

Seriously Adam Sandler can play a more realistic character! why is he still playing little nicky meets the waterboy?

Think about it! Adam Sandler is a down to earth, i don't know, mine worker with a young wife working hard to try and scratch out a living. One day a young man hes never meet before shows up with a photo of him and his father and a tale that Sandler has a hard time to shallow: His father was unfaithful husband and maybe even a swindler and fathers 5 sons with just as many women. On top of that he tried to con the wrong man and is need of help. The only people who can help are Sandler and these other brothers. Can they save their father? and more importantly can they do it without killing each other?

the comedy would come from the characters and their background!!! we don't need this stupid movie!!!

                          why can't people realize this?

Because he wants to. Most, if not all, of his more recent movies are produced by "Happy Madison Productions," his own company (a mashup of Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison, I believe). I think he hasn't realized that people aren't really interested in his kind of humor anymore, so he tries harder and harder and fails.
