  • Scammers, you're not even trying

Got this in my junkmail recently. It starts out:

    Dear:,
I am Mr Billy Willy, Director of operations (Bank of America) America Branch

Then this appears further on in the letter:

    .
The sum of USD$35.7M only will be transfer into your account after the processing of all relevant legal documents with your name as the bonfire beneficiary,
    Hey, money to burn!

De-education must be working (IE scambaiters are giving wrong information, bad grammar, spelling, etc to these idiots and they're taking it as gospel)

I hope I can avoid the scammers, because I just won the British Lottery.

Yup. Got an email from them today.

I love the ones that say "I saw your profile online! You're cute!" Or, "I saw your Facebook..."

I have no Facebook account. The only "profiles" I have are on sites like this one, and none of them include my real name or a photo.

The only place I have ever used my real name is on Classmates dot com. The ONLY way to contact me through that site is through Classmates dot com. IF you visit my profile or leave a messages on my profile page the site then sends me an e-mail from Classmates dot com. The message will never be sent/e-mailed directly to my e-mail addy.

My profile has been visited lately by people I do NOT know or remember who say they were in my HS class (I lost my yearbooks years ago during a move but luckily Classmates has electronic copies on-line)

My computer spent christmas in bits due to a delayed upgrade (two DOA Motherboards...) An amusing upshot of having my computer in bits was taking a phone call from the microsoft scammers who insisted that I could be helped if I turned my computer on even when I told them I had the ram from my computer in my hand and that the motherboard was f**ked

I get similar things. I don't have a FaceBook account, either. I also get "messages" in my email saying that I have messages in WhatsApp. I don't have a WhatsApp account, either.

I have gotten 2 or 3 of those e-mail messages this week. KNOWN scam attempt.

We've been getting those app emails at work...in the death notice inbox. Also ones saying "missed voicemail message." Yeah, right, sure...
