Got the email late last night that I was accepted into our local Pop culture convention.

Yay! Hopefully I can sell some of my awesome quilts!
    Grats!! =D

...Rooted, that means you technically hugged me, which means either fire or an abnormal day for you. Meh bad.

Ah, well...migraines are a normal day for me, so maybe an abnormal day will be an awesome one.

Kabe and I have just spent two days shoveling the driveway. It's basically done, minus the portion that's right around the neighbor's SUV. Because he just shoveled around it and nowhere else. On a shared driveway. Asshole.

I know that feel. Spent most of the last three days shoveling snow. Clearing out around my car, and the front walk, and then this morning again, digging out the snow at the end of the driveway that the plow missed. That was snow about 2 feet deep and more than 6 feet across, and a car length-and-a-half wide.

Fortunately, our next neighbor came over to help out with his little snowblower. That let me get out to go to work today.

But yeah, my back, my hip, my shoulders, my elbows are all killing me.

FUCK YOU, OLD MAN WINTER, GO BACK TO BED.

The snow is all melting! Tomorrow is going to have a high of 8! Celsius! That's, um... 46 degrees Fahrenheit. You can hate me now is you wish.

I've been saying this all week:

Old Man Winter hit the snooze button a few too many times, and now he's woke up CRANKY.

Sunny and in the 40s here...which probably means we're gonna get 4 feet of snow on Valentines Day like last year

So the snow passed us and hit a town called ft Stockton instead. So thankful for that as my new job is across town and I have no desire to drive that route in the snow/ ice

I'm in Australia, so I'm not having to deal with Snowpocalypse, but we got a massive hailstorm this week that:
                      - broke the skylight in our bathroom
                      - shattered the Laserlite over the entire back verandah
                      - bent the roof space heat vent to the point where it won't open any more
                      - broke 40+ roof tiles, and
                      - gave my husband's car an interesting new surface texture

...at about 7pm the day before Australia Day, which made lining up quotes a tad difficult. Aheh. XD

That sounds like what happens to Calgary every, oh, 3 years or so... My condolences.

Thanks. We're sorting it out OK, and we were already vaguely planning to replace the laserlite "some time soon", so it's not as bad as it could be!

Unless you listen to Second Quote Guy, that is. Y'see, the first guy who came out to quote for repairs was pretty calm about it, sort of "Yeah, we can fix this no problem, here's some $numbers. "

The second guy who came out, on the other hand, was all "OH MY GOD this is TERRIBLE you can't just patch this because your roof is in TERRIBLE shape, you need a COMPLETE ROOF RESTORATION and then we'll paint it and blah blah $BIGGER NUMBERS oh and if you accept right now we can give you a discount but if not $EVEN BIGGER NUMBERS also your insurance company probably won't pay for it because they'll look at the state your roof is in and conclude you haven't been doing maintenance. "

Called the first guy back to see what he would quote for a full roof restoration (which was another thing we were thinking about having done, so we were okay with the idea), and his response was basically "...no? Uh, you don't need that yet? There's not enough moss and stuff up there to worry about, and if you pressure-wash your roof you'll actually damage the tiles. I want your business but I don't want to rip you off. "

Soooooo yeah guess who we're going with.

Sounds like someone who went to the Shady Mechanic School of Making Money. You know, the one that suggests tons of repairs and the like you don't need, in the hopes you won't realize that you don't need them?

He was damn good at it too, he managed to get in all the "OH MY GAWD" implications without actually sounding overhyped. (I, er, may have been paraphrasing for effect. )

And then after all the decision-making had happened and things were signed, my husband (who was leaving this mostly up to me because he went back to work this week and is kinda exhausted) turned around and told me "Yeah, I heard some stuff about them being kind of shady and trying to over-sell people on stuff they didn't really need, but I didn't want to influence you one way or another."

HONEY. HONEY LISTEN TO ME. IF YOU ACTUALLY KNOW STUFF RELEVANT TO THE CURRENT SITUATION I WANT YOU TO INFLUENCE ME BEFORE I SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF OUR MONEY FFS.

well waiting on a new debit card, and dispute forms from my bank, because mine was compromised somehow. My sister's partner of the last decade plus, just dumped her for an ex(she lives with him, and thanks to rideshare companies she can't make enough driving cab to rent anywhere).

Oh and I just got a call yesterday that my mom is probably going into hospice care, and I'm 900 miles away.

                                So yeah.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes
