Everybody to the east of me, stay safe out there! Hope your power stays on and you don't get TOO much snow!

Given I'm currently living in a southern state but grew up (and learned to drive) in a northern one, I'm only worried if this weather turns into a couple inches of ice on the roads. But either way we're stocked enough that I'm not concerned. Not yet. We've got the supplies for a short-to-medium blizzard (old habits die hard).

But here's hoping everyone else is safe and just as prepared!

The temperature right now, right here in Finland, is -28°C. That's -18°F, for you backwards Yanks.

It's not snowing, but I still don't really feel like going outside, for some strange reason.

I'm in Kentucky and we are expecting somewhere between 5 and 14 inches. The snow doesn't bother me but the 1/4-1/2" of ice we had early this morning is a whole nother ballgame. For the first time in 6 years, I'm missing a day of work. My direct supervisor called me at 5:30 this morning and said to stay home. She's within walking distance of the mill if the boss can't get there to pick her up. I'm sure she'll only be there to answer the phones until corporate closes it for the day. They are all in Richmond VA and are expecting as much if not more snow from what I'm seeing in the forecast.

Where we live, it can come only a light dusting and everyone freaks out. But then we also have people driving that can't navigate the streets in the pretty sunlight, much less any snow.

Here it's...a 'decent' 30F. My shift lead works at town hall and she was told the storm would miss us. If we do get blasted, I'll probably be called in tomorrow (only 2 or 3 part-timers actually live in the same town as the store).

Here in the Washington DC metro area they're calling for 20-30 inches (50-75cm). And of course being "essential personnel" I get to help push the crap doing 12 hour days today, tomorrow and Sunday...

Checking in from the middle of North Carolina, where we have been getting snow and sleet since before daybreak.

According to local weather forecasters, we're expecting around a total of 8 inches of snow and ice total from this system. So far I'd say we've got around 4 now from the looks of it outside and we're expecting snow showers tonight and tomorrow.

Made a run to get groceries on Wednesday afternoon and haven't been anywhere since (still recouperating from surgery on Tuesday and called in yesterday to tell the AM that I needed to take Friday off and I'd see them on Monday.)

So I've been inside, still have some spaghetti sauce in the crock pot left from last night (better next day for lunch) and the kitties and I have been spending the day indoors.

They've periodically ran to the windows and looked out . . . I'm not sure if they know what to make of this white stuff, as this is really the first time they've seen snow (except for a small dusting on Wednesday afternoon/evening) and I've even taken one or two of them to look out the front door.

We're being advised, of course, to stay off the roads as the road crews are working nonstop to clear the major roadways (mine is a secondary road, so it'll get cleared off later) and my brother has heard that out of state electrical crews are pouring into the area to be on standby for power outages. So far no outages in Greensboro but in areas nearby there have already been a few thousand reported.

Glad I spent yesterday getting the house straightened out. Got what laundry needed to be done today done already so just in case we lose electric, I don't have that much to worry about.

Hopefully the roads will be okay so I can get back to work on Monday . . . at least I have 40 hours of vacation time I can fall back on in addition to sick and holiday hours.

Checking in from Northern VA. I can't tell just how deep the snow is outside but I'd say at least shoe-mouth deep.

We already have enough groceries, and have made tea for our respective caffeine fixes. We're fine. My uncle who doesn't live too far away (a few miles of back road) has already said to tell him if the power goes out (it hasn't). It figures we get snow after that warm Christmas we had, lol

Here at the ski resort, we have several tourists who are staying over at least one more day because of flight cancellations. They didn't seem too heartbroken about extending their vacations.

Out of power here in Johnston County NC. At least it's 34F. Gonna be a long evening with all 7 people and 4 dogs shoved in one bedroom.

Staying at my parents' house. If the power goes out, at least they have a fireplace. Plus I can help them with the driveway, and I don't have to go out and move my car on the snow-removal-crew's schedule. Not much more than flurries so far.

I live across the river from DC. But I am not enjoying this blizzard. This morning Mrs. IA and I left to drive to Pittsburgh, PA. Just outside of Cumberland, MD, the leading edge of the storm found us and was with us until Morgantown, WV. Once we turned north we outran the storm. We are in a hotel just north of Pittsburgh where they expect 4-6 inches of snow. This is OK for us as we have w 4WD SUV and the class we came up here for is only 5 minutes away. Getting back home on Monday may be a different story. We may have to dig our way back into our house.

In WV here. Still have power, but over a foot of snow. We're at level 3 state of emergency. It's still snowing too.

Western NJ here. Power still on, but pretty close to a blizzard warning area. About an inch of snow. So far, though, everything is good. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
