Can I just vent about my first-world problem for a minute?
So we have this 12-pack of drinking glasses in my store, but I ordered them online because of free shipping and the fact that I wouldn't have to lug them home (bad back and I ride the bus).
A little while ago I got a knock on my door. Now, I'm female and I live alone, so unless I know someone's coming over, I don't like to answer the door. Maybe I watch too many crime dramas. Anyway, when someone I don't know comes to my door unannounced, it's generally not a good thing. I did look out my peephole, but it's frosted over and I don't have a door chain, and I was just out of the shower, so I let the person go away.
I just checked outside to see if there were any kind of note and there was--from UPS. Great. So the delivery person wasted gas and time and was probably irritated because you could see I was home due to all the lights and TV. The package is going to end up across town, a 2-bus trip. So now I have to go get it and lug it home twice as far, probably next week, since today and Sunday were my only days off. I'm thinking of letting it go back to the company or sit there, as it's only a loss of $11. It's just...the principle of the thing. The whole reason for online shopping is my lack of transportation.
And what's with the knocking? Isn't UPS known for the drop-and-run tactic?
