Really Scammers?

This morning, I received 15 emails telling me that someone has sent me $2,125.00 via PayPal. Apparently, whoever is sending these emails is using common first and last names to try to fool me, but keeps the exact same amount.

Here's a list of the names that have supposedly sent me $2,125.00 USD with PayPal:

David Jones
Donna Miller
Jennifer Jones
Christopher Miller
Ronald Brown
Kevin Jones
Charles Johnson
Susan Miller
Ruth Davis
Mark Smith
Donna Williams
Kenneth Jones
Steven Williams
Helen Brown

After I started writing this post, Kimberly Jones just sent me $2,125.00 USD with PayPal. Kim Jones is the first one that sent me money this afternoon.

This morning, I received 15 emails telling me that someone has sent me $2,125.00 via PayPal. Apparently, whoever is sending these emails is using common first and last names to try to fool me, but keeps the exact same amount.

So they're using their randomizer for the text, too.

My experience has been that they use this same system to speculatively create email addresses. Given that they usually send their stuff from networks of captured machines instead of their own, they don't care how many of those work.

I got a ridiculous amount of that same email the other day, too. I remember mentioning it to my boyfriend.
