  • I really hope this is a sinus headache.

Otherwise I have concussion #6. So this time my friend hugged me and hit my noggin with hers. *sigh* It hurt, which it doesn't always when I bump my head. But then I was fine until a half hour later when I started to get a headache. If feels like a baaaaad sinus headache. The symptoms match. But since I'm not sure I can't take ibuprofen nor allergy meds, which sucks. It hurts so bad and I have to get up in about 7 hours. Anyone ever have to try to sleep with a headache?

    I need sympathy.

Update: I know it's now the end of September, but I'm re-opening this post to say I think I've figured out that I get cluster headaches. I did have a concussion, so maybe that triggered it. Anyway, my symptoms seem to match clusters. I guess my pattern is 2 days in a row at the same time of day (late afternoon). I've had at least 2 more incidences of it, probably once a month? They last 3 or 4 hours, which also fits. [I've been trying to figure if they're cluster or migraine, and the timeline seems to fit cluster. Yes, I'm self-diagnosing.]

I plan to see my doc after work training is over. In the meantime, does anyone here suffer clusters? If so, what helps you in the relief process? I'll be asking about pain meds, but what else can I try?

This will not help today, but I find interesting facts relaxing.

The US Army is currently developing a blood test to help diagnose concussions faster. Allowing for quicker, and more effective, treatment. It is a portable handheld device. Think about the possibilities, mainly not needing an expensive and time consuming MRI. http://wgntv.com/2014/10/23/blood-te...f-concussions/

And while Googling to find that link, I stumbled across this about the NFL and the Army working together to develop the technology further. http://www.scout.com/military/warrio...ets-for-safety

I have to stop now, I almost fell down the rabbit hole following all the interesting links on this subject. Apparently, they have made even more strides in this area than when I first heard about it 4 or 5 years ago.

What? You don't play with flamethrowers on the weekends? You are strange.

That is comforting. I might just be tired. My RN friend says to get some sleep tonight and see what happens.

Not sure where you are located, but I've had a sinus headache for about 3 days now. Crazy weather is crazy. So that's probably what it is.

Wisconsin, so it's possible. Headache is gone but I'm still dizzy. I'll see how I am tomorrow.

You shouldn't be dizzy though, unless you get inner ear problems easily. Maybe call the doctor?

Dizziness or balance issues are a classic sign of concussion. I've had so many that I recognize the symptoms. I don't believe I have any brain delay this time so that's what's confusing me as to whether it's a coincidental sinus headache or concussion-related. Either way, I'm avoiding any blood-thinning meds.
When I got up this morning no headache. I felt lightheaded/dizzy--just slightly--while at work and no headache until the end of my shift. I got off, went to pick up some stuff with a friend, came home, and took some acetaminophen, and felt a lot better mid-evening. Now I feel just fine balance-wise, don't notice any brain delay, and am just tired, which is to be expected as I'm running a sleep deficit.

So the mystery remains as to head-butt related or allergy related headache. Or migraine, which runs in my family, but I wouldn't recognize if I had it. I'm clueless about how those feel and the one time I had one diagnosed it was the painless variety. I just have no idea what that pain was about, but I'm glad it's over.

Had the same headache tonight but shorter. My body hates me.

Occasionally I'll get sinus-like headaches for the 24 hours following my overnight shift if I don't get at least 7 straight hours of sleep afterwards. I think I've narrowed it down to what I eat both on-shift and after waking up...if I eat junk it's worse.

Bad headaches are gone but the dizziness comes and goes. I get slightly headache-y at the end of my shift. *sigh* I'm so tired of going through this via no fault of my own. People keep leaving stuff in the walking path, hitting me with their cars, and banging into me. ugh
