Going to visit some macaws

Mr. Mathnerd and I have been looking to add to our flock. We want one more, preferably large, parrot. Yesterday I responded to an ad from a woman who has two and she needs to rehome them. She has one scarlet and one blue and gold macaw. She's asking a really low rehoming fee, so it's worth the hour drive to go visit the birds and see if there's a personality match with one of them. A blue and gold macaw is my dream bird. I'm really excited and hoping it works out!

Update:

We are now in the service of a special needs scarlet macaw named Scarlett. She's currently in our spare cage while we get her real cage set up, but she's calm, so that's a good sign. She's been plucking pretty badly for the last nine months, and is missing a wing, and for the last four years (her known history), has had a "no touch" policy. We have a lot of work to do, but I'm very excited.

She's done well today. If that's any indication, we just might be able to rehabilitate her completely (well, except the whole flying thing...that's impossible with only one wing.)

Yes please keep us up to date! My friend has a beautiful birdie (not sure what type of parrot/macaw) but he was bald when she got him from stress plucking. Once he settled in and was loved he grew all his pretty feathers back.
