My wife and I are planning on getting a pair of tattoos. Originally I was going to get yang, she was going to get yin. But then we discovered the dragon-phoenix symbols for that and we decided that would be much better. Only thing is, I've seen the general picture of the two together, but I don't know about colors. Or really, does it matter if we do them the way they are meant in their picture together? We really don't know as much behind the meanings as her mom just mentioned it recently to us.

Strangely enough, I was considering a similar tattoo myself for a while. It's changed a bit but now I want a small, almost minimalist solid black dragon under my right collarbone and a phoenix to match on the other side, then they'll have backgrounds that look like fiery auras.
The dragon and phoenix together usually represent a king and queen, but the reason I was considering them was because to me, the dragon represents strength and protection while the phoenix represents the ability to overcome, plus Phoenix (the city) is where I grew up. When I was first considering it a friend also described part of my personality as "like fire and wind" so that sealed the deal for me.
If it helps any, check out Pinterest, that's where I've been getting a lot of my ideas. I'll pick one aspect of one thing and another aspect of something else, and eventually I figured out what I wanted. The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains gives hope to many people.
You would have to be incredibly dense for the world to revolve around you.

I am "Artistically Challenged". I know that I have no artistic talent, so I do not attempt artistic things.
So I go to the experts.
Go talk to tattoo artists. They should be able to help you. It is not just about choosing the colors, you also have to take into consideration how those colors will show up on your skin.
Just remember, you want to do it right the first time. When it comes to tattoos, corrections are a bitch.

The thing is, we want to still to the traditional design. Just not sure what it is and I'd like someone who knows for sure to tell me.Quoth Aragarthiel View PostIf it helps any, check out Pinterest, that's where I've been getting a lot of my ideas. Definitely find a good artist who can design something with the meanings you want. That way it will be an original piece that nobody else will have by an artist that cares about their work."If anyone wants this old box containing the broken bits of my former faith in humanity, I'll take your best offer now.
