and I have 25 years of food service and cash handling *currently*. She's retired.
On FB there was a discussion of fake money and I made a comment. The response was a bit rude so I corrected her.
-----------------------------------------
me: This is why I like electronic transactions. Plus cash is just plain disgusting. e. coli, anyone?
her: Yeah, because nothing fraudulent can happen with electronic transactions. And I'm pretty sure the only way you can get e. coli from cash is if you eat it.
me: It's not a problem if you monitor your banking and catch it while it's still pending. Re: bacteria--there's a reason people in food service have to wash their hands after touching money before touching anything else. And that's every. single. time.
me: If you touch money and then touch your food you are essentially eating it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) Is it likely you'll get sick from touching money and then your food? Probably not, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
b) Fraud does happen electronically but it's possible to get your money back. I have several times. If you lose cash you'll never get it back.
Apparently some older people have nothing better to do than belittle the younger generation. It's the same arguments I have to deal with from sucktomers and now I'm getting it outside of work. ugh
