  • My coworker

This actually happened last week, but I'm just now to the point where I can process it.

One of my coworkers is Vietnamese. Her entire family moved here after the 'Nam war. She grew up here from the age of 4. Due to *circumstances* (I don't know what), her niece lives with her. My coworker and her niece are the only ones in the family who speak passable English, so they are the ones who deal with whatever needs to be done.

Last week, her niece didn't come home from work one night. In fact, her niece and two of her coworkers disappeared. After finally convincing the police that her niece was indeed missing, a search was launched. Nothing was heard until this week. This week, they found her niece's car in ... Arizona (we are in North Carolina). The two coworkers of the niece are seen exiting the car and crossing the border into Mexico.

At this point, the police issue warrants for a stolen car against the niece's coworkers. It's on the news all over our area. My coworker has to deal with the police and the media Nothing is heard from the niece. Searches are stepped up, both here and in Arizona. Fast forward two days later, the niece's body is found ... here in NC. She has been murdered.

The funeral was today. I'm so sad for my coworker and so MAD at her coworkers. What the heck went so wrong that they felt they had to murder

That is horrible. The poor girl. I hope her murderers get every vicious thing that's coming to them, and quickly.

Condolences to your friend and her family.

Thank you all. My coworker came back to work today. She is a mess, as you can expect, but she's holding together pretty well. At this point, we are hoping for the two suspects to be found and swiftly transported to justice
