A nickname some members of my family call me based on my real name.

I used to have a different one, but I eventually tired of it and asked Raps to change it for me.

I joined a few days after escaping (being downsized) from the Call Center from Hell. For this reason Freeatlast seemed very appropriate.

My master's degree is in math. I taught math for a decade. I read math books for fun. I didn't want to use the same username I use in a lot of other places, so this fit. Also, I'm not very creative.

Kittish was a name I came up with back in the mid 90s when the internet was just becoming widely accessible. It's a combination/play on Kitty and skittish. Apparently, at some point, the word started being used by other people as there's now a definition of 'kittish' in the urban dictionary (my use of Kittish as a screenname predates it by over a decade-far as I can tell, I invented the word). It's been my user name of choice since I first came up with it, though I'm starting to run into places where it's already taken (*gasp*) when I go to sign up.

You should be called "Original Kittish" at those places.

Back in the days of AOL, Compuserv, BBS and other dialup hangouts is when I joined the online world. IRC was where most of my time was spent. It's also where I learned to touch type so as to keep up with channel scroll. In IRC land the nicks were first come first serve. And many a battle of ping timeouts were fought over contested user names. So although I tried to go by IoErroR, my crappy connection always list the nick collision. IRC also had an 8 character limit at the time. And thus, 0phblnc was born. No one else ever took it and I've been using it for the last 20 some odd years since. I still have to explain it's pronounced off balance to folks. It's a play on my mental state any given day

A few moons ago , I worked for a certain outsourced IT company that may or may not have been named for small amounts of water moving in a river like fashion. My particular location had a tendency to name their computers, and to swap files over the network. I picked insanity because it fit my mental state at the time, and inc, because why not? Insanity incorporated sounded like a fun name. I've used it ever since when I want anonymity.

It seemed fitting because I've worked with food a lot. But where it actually came from is the fact that when I was a kid it was my job to feed the cats. Mom would say to them "Are you hungry? Do you want dinner? Well, go tell the Food Lady!" Elsewhere I'm either spirals or spirals73, which came about on a hair forum because it's what my hair does. Yeah, I'm not very creative.

I was a big fan of the 80's Disney animated series Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers back in the day, so I chose "Monterey Jack" based on the Aussie mouse character from the show.]

Mine came from when I was playing City of Heroes. I have other names that I also use online, but this is the one that most people know me by today.

Lace Neil Singer is my Sludge name. I used to really go on Metal Sludge, back in its heyday (I still go on it sometimes, just that it's really gone downhill since then). Despite what some people think, I am female. My other username on places is Pripyat Horse; I've thought about changing it on here, but really can't be bothered.

A Sludge name is a composite of different rock star names to look like a real name. Here's the breakdown of mine:

Lace - Ace Frehley. I femininised "Ace" to "Lace" in a vain hope to represent myself as female. XD

                        Neil - Vince Neil.

                        Singer - Eric Singer.

People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.

I've used Akasa almost exclusively since 99.
There ARE some places I don't want people connecting the dots to.

I used to have a book that was like a Dictionary of Witchcraft terms that I found in an abandoned house. When I started to play EQ I referred to it for a name. Akasa is basically the closest the Buddhists come to a soul, something about improving yourself with every life, and I thought that was a GREAT name for a healer.

You remind me of an Aussie guy I've known (online) since the 90's. Same sort of mentality. One of his preferred ways of killing time enjoyably is looking up and solving big lists of quadratic equations. At one point he attempted to explain some sort of 3-dimensional math thing (think multiple equations plotted out on a sphere that all have to agree, Sudoku-style; something like that) -- I got the jist of it, but it mostly went way over my head.
